Re: OT: Cubs Offseason Thread
MVPete got us back on track. Two bombs.
Shaw is really struggling with the bat.
We need a stud starter really bad. I want Cabrera from Marlins. Lefty from KC would be good too. Good thing Cassie at AAA is on fire and helping that stock.

Pete is the 3rd player in history to reach 25 homers and 25 steals before the all-star break. Only Barry Bonds and Eric Davis have done it. Does he have 50-50 in him?

I think he gets 40 40 this season.
50 50 would be bonkers in the future.

Shota with a strong game, Cubs take the Series from the Yankees, finish tied with the Dodgers for best record in the NL at the all star break. Only 1.5 games ahead of the Brewers though in the central. Nice to see them win this series v. NYY though, after dropping 2 of 3 to the Twins.

Love to see it!
We are doing it while missing a lot of pitching. Amaya still out.
Will need a stud SP to help us with the division.

Re: OT: Cubs Offseason Thread
Well, here's my final trade scenario (100% BS):
Trade 1:
Chicago out/Pirates in: Cade Horton, James Triantos, PTBNL
Chicago in/Pirates out: Mitch Keller
Trade 2:
Chicago out/Dbacks out: Moisés Ballesteros
Chicago in/Dbacks out: Eugenio Suárez
Trade 3:
Chicago out/Rockies in: Ethan Roberts, Nazier Mule
Chicago in/Rockies out:Jake Bird
25 man roster moves:
1. Kellar replaces Horton
2. Bird replaces Roberts
3. Brutal DFA, add Suárez
Payroll 25.1M available with plenty to absorb the pro-rated salaries of all 3 players traded for.
Suárez 5.5M
Bird 275K
Keller 6M
Total 11.75M

W today against a Red Sox team that was hot heading into the all-star break. 10 game win streak actually... albeit from a lot of bum slaying.
Cubs have the easiest schedule the rest of the way so hopefully they can both extend their lead in the division and maybe even rest some guys

Super overpay for Mitch Keller.
We're probably looking at something like Long/Triantos or just Alcantara.

Horton, alone, is an overpay for Keller. Why trade a future 1 or 2 for a present day #3. The Horton+ for Keller idea has Cease+ for Quintana vibes to it and I am not cool with it.
And Mo for Suarez is gross. No chance the Cubs will throw away Mo for a rental like Suarez.

Fly the W!
Matty Ice Shaw sighting. He starts hitting and we look like real WS contenders.
Imanaga with a great start!

Most fun since our WS season in 16.
Now go push all the chips in and trade for an ace.

Re: OT: Cubs Offseason Thread
2nd place Cubs.
Brewers have won 11 in a row.
Jed better get his big impact trade done.
Shaw is starting to heat up while Tucker slumps. If we can get them both hitting we will go on our own run.
