i love tre, but there's nothing wrong with bringing him off the bench, and he can get plenty of minutes in that role.

in terms of getting your best 5 on the floor, especially to close a game - it's pretty hard for me to imagine tre/coby/giddey as a three-man unit with vucevic as your standard center in those lineups, but i don't think it's an inherently unplayable trio either. the extra complicating factor is that, on paper, ayo is a much more natural "third man" in a three-guard lineup than whichever one of tre/giddey that you're asking to do more work off ball. but i dunno, there's a universe where tre just keeps playing good enough to force you to at least test it out

Pretty good problem to have. If this team truly is that deep with solid players, I wonder if we see AKME consolidate the talent and make a trade, sacrificing depth for a higher end player.

I do like have a guard heavy lineup since Giddey’s defensive position is more of a wing. Having a reliable secondary ball handler and playmaker in Jones has been a catalyst for the offense this far. I also think he could adjust just fine even if his touches get reduced with Coby coming back.

Ayo, Okoro, Huerter off the bench would give us solid bench play, and ability to fill in when someone inevitably gets hurt.

If Jones was taller it would be fine, but since he's not I have my doubts that a Giddey, Coby, Jones starting lineup will work.

I think it makes sense to toy with the idea of bringing Coby off the bench, but that's not going to happen, so Jones to the bench makes the most sense.

Honestly I feel like I am watching the evolved version of Duke Tre Jones.

For those who don't remember him in college, he was an absolute BEAST defensively. I mean a total lockdown guy. He just didn't have the shooting chops of his brother Tyus. That to me, was one of the biggest reasons why he stayed 2 years and why he dropped to the 2nd round.

I think the growth part is that Tre picks his spots and knows his limitations. He is just very very smart on offense.

I love Tre & Giddey together in the lineup. It's great to have two guys who can initiate the offense -- it makes us much less predictable. Also, the Giddey/Coby duo is more than a bit suspect defensively.

I'd use Coby as a 6th man microwave. But that could be just me.

Honestly, after the Ball PTSD, I'd just be grateful to get Coby back early enough this season where it is even an issue.

I’ve been VERY impressed with his offensive game/touch around the basket. It’s very much what you just said, picking his spots. Picking high percentage fadeaway/push shots at bucket, and clearly picking them on HIS spot (that he’s probably practicing over and over). That could make it easier to defend, but he does it so infrequently that I don’t think any teams are really honing in on it.

I love how he uses his limited offensive game and makes it feel very diverse still haha
