That isn't accurate, I don't think. It was specifically reported that Gordon's people dropped the QO card in negotiations in an effort to get some leverage.

You're right. He definitely said it himself. Later it was reported without the quote. Originally he said that right now the Bulls have the power since they can match. If he takes the QO he'll have more power in his hands.

Keepers. They are only gone in the "right deal", meaning the other team overpays
Luol Deng- Our best player by far, and still one of the youngest. Not the demanding presence, but solid. As long as his asking price stays below ~5/65 He's here.
Ben Gordon. This is assuming he isn't asking for absurd. I'd probably go as high as 5/60 and bite the bullet, but hopefully we can keep it down around 5/55. He has some serious flaws, but he can score unlike anyone on our team. I actually really like him off the bench and think all we really need is a decent big SG to complement him. Someone who can put up 10ppg with above average defense as a starter. I think if we have the MLE to spend we may be able to find a guy with this. More likely we can find this guy through trading other players.

Most Likely Here. These players I wouldn't mind trading for a fair deal. Not willing to trade them low, but not expecting to be overpaid for them like Deng or Gordon.
Kirk Hinrich- Really I'm not sure what has happened to him this year. He went from being our third scorer, capable of putting up 15ppg, to struggling to get 10 per game. Still his contract isn't bad. If we want a three guard rotation that Gordon works in he is pretty important. Not irreplaceable though.
Joe Smith- No reason to trade him unless we are bringing back a 20ppg low post scorer. He scores better than any big we have right now. And there is very little risk because of his contract.
Tyrus Thomas- Young Player, full of athleticism that needs some consistent time to evaluate. At the least he can provide game changing defense.
Joakim Noah- Solid Player who plays with ton of heart. He doesn't have a shot, but with a little bit of strength work he can get stronger finishing at the basket and get opportunity buckets. Plus he can handle the ball and pass well. Defense is good.
Aaron Gray- The only true low post scorer we have. Perfect to backup the 5 spot.

Indifferent. Whether they stay or leave isn't really important
Thabo Sefolosha- I thought about putting him in the above group, but if we can get the big SG to complement Gordon I think there won't be a ton of minutes there. So whether we fill his role with him or some minimum salary player doesn't matter much, IMO
Adrian Griffin- He doens't hurt us really. He seems like a good leader. He'll be expiring though and might be the ideal throw in salary matcher in a deal.
JameOn Curry I'd assume we'll hang onto him to give him another shot, but if we find someone we like better, no love lost.
Demitris Nichols- See Curry, JamesOn.

Get Rid of. These Guys I don't want to see back.
Andres Nocioni- I like him, I really do. The way he plays the game is great. He is always giving his all. He plays with passion and his effort should be a model to everyone. That being said I don't think he provides enough for us from a basketball standpoint. He can score, but has become a bit of a black hole. He tries on defense, but finds himself out of position too much. He is a tweener and because of Deng he is hardly ever at the right position when he is in the game. His contract isn't bad because it's decreasing, but I think we could use his money more wisely in the next few years, and I think his trade value is at or near the maximum it will be. Trade high on this one. His BYC restrictions will be gone this summer so we shouldn't have a problem. I don't think we have to worry about not getting fair value for him.
Chris Duhon- I like him too. He is a solid back up. But he is a free agent and I'm not sure his contract will fit into our budget. Plus the day he is gone is the day I have to stop worrying about a Hinrich-Duhon back court.
Viktor Khyrapa- We could pay someone a million dollars less to sit on the bench.
Our Draft Pick I'll assume this is going to be in the 7-15 range. If that is the case I don't think we will find a player who can help immediately. We'll just have another Noah/Tyrus/Thabo situation. If this pick ends up in the 6-9 range we could get a nice player in return. If we REALLY tank an it is top 5 than I am keeping this pick and some players above are probably chaging too.

PLEASE BE GONE!
Aka the Ben Wallace category. I'll take back another crappy contract, as long as it doesn't exceed his in length. I'll trade for a man with no arms and no legs. I don't really care. I'd probably prefer not to buy him out because I'd like to use his expiring contract in a couple years. That being said we don't want bad PR with a player like Wallace who is respected around the league. We don't owe him anything and it hurts me to say so, but assuming we are looking to get rid of him we should be upfront with him and work with him to land him in a situation that makes him happy, whether that means buying him out or trading him to a particular team. All within reason of course. I want a smooth goodbye, but we need to look out for our interests so we need to not take back excessive salary in terms of length. So if we had near equal offers from a contender and non contender I'd do what I could to put him on a contender. But if he doesn't want a buy out and the only offer is to the Knicks for Marbury. Sorry Ben. Goodbye. If we think we will buy him out that would be great. But I would like to do it early if that is the case. The reason being is that if we know we will have 10-15M extra the next couple of years we don't have to backload Gordon and Deng's deals so severely.

I think if the right deal comes along, everyone is tradeable at this poiint.
Here's my list:
1. Deng - possible future all star, perfect for 2nd option
2. Hinrich - he showed what he can do. He's having a bad year, but I expect to bounce back next year. Sometimes PG's are late bloomers, and I think Hinrich will mature more, he'll play smarter as years go on and he'll cut his turnovers down. Hiss defense will be back. He just needs to play with real SG beside him.
3. Noah - future leader of the team, will play at center and is a winner. Hustle/defensive player on a cheap contract.
4. Tyrus - young and has potential, needs PT and he'll get it next year. With time, he'll develop nicely. Our future PF.
5. Nocioni - just love him & his energy. He's maybe a chucker & bad defender, but he's perfect for 6th man. Atleast he cares.
6. Gray - will be good backup C for years to come.
7. Thabo - he's young and I think he'll become good role player in this league
8. JamesOn Curry - mainly because he's unknown. Like to see what he can do. Very cheap.

Everyone else I don't want to see on the roster next year.
Gordon should be S&T in the summer for big slashing SG. Maybe packaged with Joe Smith to a contender can fetch us something very nice.

Wallace/Duhon/Griffin/Khryapa - I just want them gone. And I don't want anything in return. Whatever.

If we're trading Ben Gordon we better do it by the deadline because we are going to get a much better return now than in a S&T.

I agree is better to trade him now. And I really think that packaged with Joe Smith he can bring some good player in return.

Who do you think would give a good package for Gordon and Smith? Can you guys come up with some deals?

I keep hearing this, but I think Gordon has worse trade value than Hinrich, Noce, Deng, and Thomas. Most people see him as an underzied guard who is a bench player.

I don't think he'd bring us anything that would make us better.

Deng - he is just our best player
tt & noah - both have greath potential and they will get better, if the get some playing time.
gray - will be a good back-up big man

trade gordon, hinrich, nocioni for a superstar in the offseason
buy out ben wallace

They bring good value to contenders. Team like Houston, Utah, Lakers.
Here are some trades:
To Houston: Gordon, Smith for Scola, Head, Snyder, Francis, 1st rounder
After the trade we wave Francis
Why for Houston: Smith is better and more experienced than Scola, he'll be very good next to Yao, and with McGrady constatntly injured Ben adds firepower to their team.
To Utah for Okur, Almond, 1st

Return to Chicago Bulls
