I was not joking . This was the year he was suppose to really breakout and become all star this year . I remember a lot of analyst predicted he would play behind Lebron James in the all star game . His play this year has been a little worse than last year . And he stills has along ways to go become a future allstar . I still do not believe anybody on this team is better than Pau

I agree. I would still do Deng and PJ for Gasol if that was and is on the table. Not including Deng for a Gasol trade (as the primary piece) and maybe one filler included would be ludacris IMO.

So yes, I feel it's far to much, as IMO Deng is far to young and valuable to be given up for a player such as Gasol.

I'm going to sound like a Memphis fan here...

we need to get used to the idea that we're a deep team with no star.

This means we will trade several valuable assets for one potentially great one. We will be less deep as a result of a trade that nets us a scorer.

If you ask me, losing Deng/Tyrus/Noah.... it hurts to think about it, yeah. but if you add the big man scorer that makes Gordon/Hinrich/Noc able to get shots off...... well, you have to think about that.

Yes it torches the bench. Right now we dont have enough minutes for everyone as is, however.

Gasol would be a likely summer deal since the Bulls could S&T Deng and one big for Gasol. As it stands, any deal not involving Ben Wallace already takes three players of value to equal Gasol's contract.

The question in my mind is what are the odds that a trade like that makes us a championship contender? I'd say quite low and thus wouldn't consider the deal. If you don't think the pieces we currently have in place can someday become a championship contender then you need to start from scratch, but it's incredibly difficult to get young players better than Deng, Noah, and Tyrus. You really need a lot of luck.

If you are waiting for one trade to make us a championship contender, then I guess this is our team for the next 5-10 years because its not going to happen. Even the Kobe deal would not have likely done that.

But this team has a lot less holes to me than the team we have now.

Gasol/Noah/Gray
Wallace/TT/Noah (hopefully TT starts)
Nocioni/Thabo
Gordon/Navarro/Thabo
Kirk/Navarro

Considered deal being Deng, Joe Smith, Duhon for Gasol, Navarro. Which also gives them some cap space with Duhon and Joe Smith coming off the books next year. And also frees up minutes for the Bulls young bigs.

I think it would be a huge mistake if Pax trades these players this season...

Deng
TT
Noah
Thabo
Kirk
Noc
Gray

I would only trade BG this season for a young SG that can step in as a starter. That is not likely so keep him until the summer.

This summer Pax will have so mich more flexibility to make moves and he might be able to dump Wallace while making these moves. Just let the youngens play and tank. 6th seed in the playoffs is the worst possible scenario for this team at this point in the season.

Rerisen, to answer your earlier question:

I would trade Deng, Smith and Duhon as long as the Bulls were willing to pay the luxury tax. That trade scenario may mean that the Bulls would have to dump Gordon due to luxury tax issues.

I also don't think Memphis would do it.

I never said we have to stick with this team. I just don't want to trade most of the upside this team has left to become a team that perennially wins 45-50 games and gets bounced in the first couple rounds of the playoffs.

Edit: I'm referring to dealing Deng and Tyrus/Noah, not the deal you're apparently discussing.

Unless its to a team that has completely different pieces that Memphis might want more than Chicago's pieces, right?

Yea but considering we were supposed to be, and I guess still are the unanimous front runner for Gasol, it'd be disappointing to see him traded to another team.

That's a big no to me as well. But I don't see how we think they are going to accept Noc+Ty and a pick or something either. How many picks have they already had? I don't think people are very realistic in what it takes to get a All-Star level player.
