Deadline or Offseason

Post#1 » by Jordan45822 » Sun Jan 20, 2008 4:53 pm

do want the Bulls to make a deal now to make a hard push in the playoffs or wait til the offseason so Nocioni and Hinrich are more tradeable without the BYC and Gordon and Deng can be used in sign and trade. And Bulls keep the team core for now to see what they do rest of the season.

i was going to start this thread, but accidently posted in a existing thread.

paxson needs to make trades for several reasons.

-unbalanced roster/playing time issues
-to shake things up after underachieving
-possible chemistry issues
-team financial issues with upcoming contracts

the question is, do you think he will do something by deadline next month? we know bulls6 has been posting all over for the past couple weeks that paxson hasn't made an in season trade since 2003.

a big factor may be the next coach. will paxson wait until the offseason to make any moves, so he can conform his roster to the new coach's style, just as he did with skiles?

paxson must know by now that no one on the roster is untouchable, and would be willing to deal anyone if they return value is good.

Off season.

Any move made needs to be for long term benefits. The odds of swinging a deadline deal that helps us long term are slim. If we could move Nocioni, Wallace, or Smith at the deadline I'd be okay, but I wouldn't want to trade young for old right now.

Offseason. Allows us to trade hinrich or nocioni at their actual salary. Although i really don't want noch going anywhere. Also, we have the oppurtunity to deal deng or gordon in a sign and trade. Although i am jumping on red larivee's bandwagon of not getting rid of gordon. If only we could get okafur for deng this offseason. Wallace all of a sudden only has 2 years left on his deal which gives us a chance go getting rid of him.

Deng, Thomas for Okafur
Wallace for any expiring

Hinrich / Gordon / 1st rounder ( i really want ty lawson )
Sefolosha / Gordon
Nocioni / Sefolosha
Smith / Noah / Nocioni
Okafur / Noah

All of our players have higher trade values after July 1, 2008 except:

Chris Duhon (expiring contract)

Viktor Khryapa (expiring contract since probably no Qualifying Offer will be given)

If their serious about making playoffs, then they have to change the team up. If theirs a deal on the table that will help the team in a playoff run and in the playoffs, then do it. IE: Pau Gasol.

If you're just making a trade just to make a trade (player dump) then don't do it.

But odds are a trade will happen for this team by deadline. Pax will get **** on if one doesn't.

I'd like to see Pax move Wallace, Noc, or maybe even Smith ASAP to free up the front court log jam.

I would love to move both Nocioni and Wallace as long as we take back deals that don't extend longer than Wallace's current deal.

I don't think we'll move either though.

Yeah. I don't think we can move Wallace and I don't think we want to move Noc. Pax must realize that our current excess of PF's doesn't work though.

I know Joe Smith has had a great year, but I want him and/or Noce to be moved. I hate Joe Smith, not b/c of his skills, but what he represents: a guy limiting the young guys playing time. Again, we are not winning a title with Wallace and Smith. Joe is not taking us anywhere on his back.

I think we can move him to a contender, but I do not see Pax trading him for two reasons: 1. His solid production and 2. We just signed him and it could look bad.

I think a contending team could give us an expiring for him. I would then cut whoever we get so Boylan can't play him.

I think Noce needs to be moved eventually. I love the guy, but I want him to stay if we can find a balance in our rotation. I think moving Smith and limiting Wallace's minutes will give Noce enough PT. I see some teams interested in him. I think we could send him to LA for possibly Kwame and a protected 1st. Or another team in a similar situation.

No one is going to take Wallace unless you include one of the younger players.
