What a crappy situation...I hope the next decade doesn't suck as much as it appears it will...
The only "winning" strategy is to tank for the top pick in the draft, and that doesn't seem likely with the decent amount of talent the current team has at this point. What a debacle, this team needs a miracle if they hope to win a title over the next 5-15 years...
Please explain how tanking for the top pick in the draft is a "winning strategy," when this "winning strategy" only involves losing a crapload of games, and is the VERY REASON why we are upset at our team in the first place. Losing never solves the problems of a franchise unless you score on a TOP TOP TOP talent in the draft (ie Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett). I don't see any of those type of players in this upcoming draft, but only time will tell.
Furthermore, tanking for a high draft pick almost NEVER works. If you remember what happened last year, Memphis and Boston ended up tanking and had the worst records in the NBA and ended up with the 4th and 5th selections respectively. This isn't the NFL. There is a draft lottery. We could have the 8th worst record in the NBA and still end up with the top pick. Learning anything yet?
If not, here is my point. TRY TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS EVERY YEAR. Tanking for young unproven players isn't a surefire way to take your team to the next level.
