I would like that deal, but I just want to be clear that Marion is no superstar. You put that in quotes, so maybe you're right with me on that one. He's a (declining) very good player who benefits a bit from playing alongside Nash and in that system. On our team I would not expect more than 14/8 from him. I would still do the deal, of course, but not b/c he's even a quote-unquote superstar.
Well, Marion did average around 20 a game for a couple of years with Starbury as his scoring pg.
In our system, he'd work good, he hit's 3s and is very active, but he's not the big body we need at PF, but he'd be a better player for the Bulls then Wallace would.

No offense, but anyone that thinks Marion's numbers are a product of playing with Nash wasn't followhing his game BEFORE Nash.
He always scored, rebounded & blocked shots, regardless of the guard running the show.
Most of his scoring opprotunities are created by HIM, they don't run alot of plays for Marion, if any.

That was a long time ago. Now he's older. Even with Nash as his PG he's averaging under 16 points per 36 minutes (15.6).
EDIT:
Just looked. Not only was Marion 24 when Starbury was with them, but (a) Starbury was pretty decent then-- averaged 8.1apg; (b) Marion logged an incredible 41.6mpg, which he would not get with us; (c) again, Marion was 24. He'll be 30 this spring.
14/8 with us. Maybe 15/8 if we were to be lucky.

Marion offensively isn't used much as he was. That offense revolves around Steve Nash and Amare Stoudamire. Grant Hill is even averaging close to the same amount of PPG that Shawn is right now. And Barbosa's is higher than both.
Marion's about a 4th option, and he can be so much more. He still plays well overall though, and he's definitely not a product of the system player.
He was averaging 18 and 9 last year before Grant Hill came in, so he's clearly moving down the ladder in terms of importance. He could still be a good player 16-18 PPG 9-10 RPG.

Dude that trade sucks for us. We give up the best center in the league for a bunch of guys who can't get it done and would just add salary. You would have to throw in Grant Hill and Atlanta's 08 pick for the deal to work.
GO BULLS!

I started this so I'll try to end it.
There is no talk of this nationally. Gambo and Ash didn't even touch it this afternoon so I'd say it was the morning DJ's blowing off steam.
But the Suns do still have a big need for a low post defender so they would make a logical partner. The trade works in the checker so atleast the talking heads did their homework. They were so freaking excited about the idea of having Wallace I thought I had entered crazy town and that it might just happen.
