I say we trade wallace and our pick to dump him (my deal is wallace and curry, plus our pick with top 12 protection for magloire, collins and nacbar)
I figure we go top 3 or top 12 protection to trade it.
#13 and 14 picks will be out west, so straight lottery protection is not necessary.
I believe we will make the playoffs. I honestly see us as the 6th seed and beating orlando. We do NOT need another pick if it's in the teens. it would be nice of course, but that asset would be better used elsewhere. The worst we finish is 10 or so, and this draft will PROBABLY not have a stud at 10
Plus, I love our young talent. We have 8 or 9 young guys to build on. We do not need one more at this time.
therefore, trade the pick with wallace, with the protection i mentioned

I completely disagree. I do not want Wallace on this team. I do not want to give up an asset just to dump him even more. This team needs as many assets as possible. We could get a backup PG with that pick and finally let Duhon go. That would make a tremendous difference in this team IMO. Or get a project to develop that will help in 2/3 years. I seriously doubt after the last two seasons that Pax will hire a coach that will not develop the youngsters. I have faith in him.
If we can trade BW for something decent this year I am all for it. Just him though. Let the rest of this team play the year out and evaluate. Wallace will have major value after next season. He can fetch us much greater value in 09/10 then he will now and he will not cost us anything else. Just a year of him pouting on the bench. If we dump him now with a pick we would be Phoenix East and that would not be good because we do not have Amare & Nash. We need all the assets we can get and use them to their maximum capabilities.

but with thabo/ben/kirk-back up point is not a priority. And there are MANY back up points around in the summer.
ptp-my trades are with protection. A mid round pick will not mean too much to us, with all these young guys. Gray is the key to this, a viable back up 5 was going to be a need.
Dumping wallace serves two great purposes
1. Frees up minutes for tyrus, noah and gray
2. frees up $ for deng and ben

I think the value of the pick is minimal until the summer. Teams are not going to pay much for a likely midrounder, especially with protection. I don't think a midrounder will allow us to ditch him.
Besides that, there could be lots of value in that pick. We got Noah at #9, what if Bill Walker, OJ Mayo, or Brook Lopex is still available. There won't be any likely stars, but to say that there is marginal value to a team thats currently not even close to .500 is just not true.

well, I see us above 9. Maybe I am being too optomistic, but I see us in the playoffs, up to the 6th seed. Maybe dumping wallace pushes us up?
Your point is valuable, that's why I put top 12 on the pick for the NJ deal (collins/magloire/nacbar for curry, wallace and our pick)
That way, we keep it. But dumping wallace helps us A LOT. No more rookies, please

Let me respond by saying this if Wallace + pick gets us something of value than I am all for it. I doubt it would though. I agree that PG is not a priority. That is why we keep the mid round pick and draft a PG instead of paying Duhon $3M per. That pick will most likely be a better player than Duhon, younger, and cheaper. I agree there needs to be minutes for TT, Noah, and Gray. But not at the expense of trading an asset when we can just bench Wallace. Make him have the ankle surgery. If we lose BG and Deng because of Wallaces contract than shame on Reinsdorf. To me that means he doesn't want to win if he cannot stomach one year of tax because Wallace will be worth so much more two years from now. I agree with the need to dump Wallace. I just do not want to dump a draft pick because we signed a horrible player. Make lemonade out of a lemon in two years.
