The more reason to use Niko at 3/4.
He opens up lanes and can draw big guys out.

Plus one to both posts. Teams have figured us out. Jo, no outside threat. Pau actually is, but is mostly inside. Jimmy, only moderately. Derrick, dare to shoot. Taj, dare to shoot. Kirk, watch kinda.

That would be 6 of our 9 rotation players.

It's so crucial to have a pure shooter on the court. This is why MDJ makes a huge impact. He may not have the flashiest stats, but not having his presence on the court is felt by this team.

This also affects the defense because overworking on one side of the court can exhaust the team.

Having MDJ and Mirotic out there will really help Jimmy and Rose. I'm hoping that McDermott could provide spacing as well. He is after all our projected SF the next couple of years.

Not to look ahead of time, but the next several seasons, McDermott & Mirotic will be crucial towards Rose and Jimmy's production.

Especially in regards to Butler's production slipping.

I've been noticing that he isn't receiving the ball as much as he was when he was Killing it.

This whole teams just doesn't feel right since we beat Houston.

Actually I think Houston was the exception and the team hasn't looked right since that 4th quarter in Indiana.

Since then:

-Blowout home loss to Nets (who recently lost 6-7 in a row)
-5 point home win against Nuggets that we had to come back from 10+ point deficit to win
-OT home win against lowly Celtics who are tanking
-Win over Rockets, the anomaly yet Houston was scuffling during this stretch
-Blowout home loss to Jazz
-Blowout road loss to Washington
-Close home win over Bucks, was within a possession in 4th and needed 46 points from Pau
-Home loss to Magic that was a blowout until a semi comeback late
-Home loss to Wizards where another semi comeback saved a blowout
-Blowout road win vs Celtics but they were trailing throughout the 3rd quarter and close until midway through the 4th
-Home loss to Atlanta where yet another comeback made the score respectable in a game the Bulls spend most of between 9-14 points down

5-6 overall
4-5 at home
Only 2 games (I believe) that the Bulls weren't trailing by double digits in at some point (vs Milwaukee and at Boston)
4-3 against teams at .500 or worse
1-3 against teams over .500

Terrible stretch for a self proclaimed contender. Might end up not being the end of the world when all is said and done or could be the start of an epic collapse.

Our bigs suck ass at closing off on the roller.

It doesn't help that Noah is playing out of position, and isn't conditioned.

our collective head has gotten too big. Everyone on our team now bitches on both ends about every call. Rose, Butler, Gibson, Noah, Pau, Brooks, Niko all complain. Big guys especially need to STFU and hustle back on D. I think its a reflection of the attitude of this team. I think they feel like they have 'earned' there way to contender status and are expecting too much.

they need to be humbled and get back to their own ways. If someone blows transition D because they are arguing with the ref, they should be benched IMHO. I see it WAYYYYY to much. I used to hang my hat on our bulls being a team that doesn't bitch and overcomes ref bias, now they are out there looking for it.

It's an 82 game season. What player doesn't struggle? There was no chance Butler was going to continue producing at the level he was each and every game especially with the amount of minutes he plays every game.

45% of Jimmy's FGA's came from within 9 feet (near 58% FG%), prior to Dunleavy's injury. Since, around 37% of his FGA's have come from within that range (45% FG%).

With Dunleavy in the lineup, Jimmy had a ratio of 2:1 on shots from within 5 feet, to 3 point attempts. Since Dunleavy has been sidelined, that ratio is 1:1.

Dunleavy is the primary provider of spacing. When he is on the court, Butler shoots 50.7 percent. When Dunleavy sits, Butler shoots 40.6. Butler’s Open+ FG% is 60.95 (meaning that no defender is within three feet of him with a hand raised), which is the best of any shooting guard in the NBA. Since Dunleavy has been injured, Butler’s Open+ Frequency (the percent of his shots that have been Open+ attempts) is only 28.9 percent. On the season, that number is 36.59 percent.
