Simply put, the Bulls won't get a better coach than Thibs but Thibs could easily get a better job than the Bulls.

I agree, we won't get a better coach than Thibs unless we somehow land the next Budenholzer.

Here is the funny thing, though. 2 teams that will be looking at their head coaching situation in the off season are Cleveland and Oklahoma.

Basically, 2 teams who have the 2 best players in the league, who are likely to be at the top of their respective conferences for the foreseeable future.

Gifting either of them Thibodeau could come back to bite the Bulls in the ass.

You don't make moves in the NBA because of how it does or doesn't affect other teams. You make moves based on how it affects your own team. Having said that, we'll see how this plays out. If this free-fall continues and we end the season with 47 wins and another first round exit -- every thing should be on the table.

We needed athleticism. GarPax addressed this obvious need we have had for years with McDermott, Mirotic, Gasol, resigning Hinrich, Brooks, and a returning point guard from 2 major knee injuries. They not only didn't address the problem, they made it worse. Even when we play lousy teams like Orlando Or Utah we struggle because they out run us, out jump us, out quick us. Gasol was a bargain for the price yes, but he did not fit into our roster. The roster is full of rounds pegs and Thibs is trying to force them into square holes. GarPax blew it, they are the ones who should be on the hot seat.

I don't understand this argument. We have more athletic players on this roster than players who lack athleticism: Rose, Butler, Taj, Noah, Brooks, Mirotic, Snell and Moore; as opposed to Gasol, Dunleavy, McDermott and Hinrich (Nazr and Bairstow don't really count).

Gasol makes us look old, slow and cumbersome, but I'm all for adding another defensive wing who is also athletic.

Journalists are not paid for their opinions. They're supposed to be objective and provide all sides to a story. If Friedell was a columnist, he can say what he wants, and sure it's his Twitter account, but he is still an ass.

This certainly feels like it's headed in a bad direction. If management still feels strongly about Thibs, then it'd probably benefit them to give him a public vote of confidence. Sadly, it's easy to get the feeling that something is wrong.

Larry Bird used to say that you should only coach for three years at a time if you haven't won a championship. His reasoning was that by the fourth season players would start to tune you out. Maybe that's what's happening here.

Votes of confidence are ineffective, to put it mildly. The media skewers them.

I see no reason for a lot more public comments from anyone.

Thibs will be evaluated after the season, like every other coach and player in the league.

If we’re making moves that affects the team, tossing away Thibodeau for a likely inferior coach with less experience and pedigree (Hoiberg), I would imagine that would be a pretty dumb move.

If this team underperforms by winning 47 and exits in the first round, it would be extremely reactionary to dump the man after 1 bad season, especially after he has pushed this past expectations in the 4 previous seasons.

If the Bulls were to get rid of Thibodeau in the off season, and bring in Hoiberg, it has ‘agenda’ written all over it, more so than trying to improve the team.
