Teams typically give small tributes to returning players who meant a lot to the organization. Why? Because its a nice, human sort of thing to do. Luol Deng is one of the longest tenured and most accomplished Bulls players in the history of the organization, and a team ambassador not only locally but internationally. Its hardly odd that he would receive a brief video tribute during a game.
Who gives a SHYT that he is on another team? Worry about the players we have.
Its possible to create a video tribute to a former player and worry about current players. Hence the 21 posts in this Luol Deng thread, relative to the hundreds of thousands about players who aren't Luol Deng.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

I completely misunderstood this thread (sorry animal23).
Great thread. I miss the guy.
And I am with Duck ....our intentions may have been good...but that was horrible timing.

I could care less also. Not a ton less, but some.
Not sure 'we' want him back. Maybe a few people. The Bulls gave him a (small) tribute, not us, by the way. Duck helped explain the common practice, that frankly I'm surprised you managed to miss over the past decade.
Your post makes me think you are talking about Ben Gordon. Now that situation I could understand questioning why people keep talking about him and wanting him back. Deng, not so much.

Nobody is making that made up trade, and if this ties into the tribute, I'm missing it.

Re: Luol Deng Tribute
Never really was a big fan of Deng. He was quite limited, his ball handling and footwork was subpar, not to mention he was not the defensive stopper that everyone on this board made him out to be. Great professional but definitely replaceable.

Jimmy plays SG. Deng plays SF. Jimmy played better than Deng for about a 30 game stretch. After he has done it for 8 seasons come back and talk to me.

the irony of these genius posts is that the Bulls have been called out for "not honoring former players and being loyal" . Its not true but its a common practice.
