hi, been watching bulls since 2000 ... tnx for the good interesting topics from everyone...... good reads and insights...... thanks...... (been on realgm for 4-5 years i think)
new topic while we're at it....
thinking about many things i could write..... but i'll write about this................ how we treat our players......
after seeing Deng's reaction the other night .... or lack thereof...... during his appreciation video..... coupled with my growing sense of not caring too much about the bulls winning anymore..... but instead just seeing them have fun out there..... and a sense of team......... comradery.............. i think i care more about that now than seeing us win............. its fun for me to see them having fun and getting along and smiling and playing together and playing hard............ this season i don't see much passion from them...........
so...... i think we should start treating our players better....... Kirk Hinrich doesn't even get a loud applause when he's introduced.........and he's been in our lives for what? 12 years? .......... back to Deng again...... he's just out of our lives like poof! doesn't even acknowledge the crowd......... and all we do is play a short video for him? i mean c'mon....... he's a human who gave years of entertainment to us....... and we play a short video...........
i think we gotta start treating these guys better........ not caring so much if they're good players or not....... they're in the nba they're good enough to entertain us........... we should just focus more on caring about them as individuals.... not as basketball players.............. only the legends get statues? jersey retired.... based on their accomplishments? i'm not digging it........ i think every player should be treated in high regard.......... Ronnie Brewer when he joined us a couple years back..... didn't his dad play for the Bulls or something? so there was some sentimental thing going on...... then poof! he's gone suddenly and no one cares...... and prior to joining the Bulls - before playing his first game - in interviews he was talking about how special it was....... then now he's gone............ Jimmer Fredette...... Scalabrine....... we show these guys love in a diss type of way...... because they're far down on the bench...... and it's more or less a sympathy thing..... but i'll end this post before i derail too much....... i think we gotta show every player a lot of love........ whether they play good or not........ thanks

You have to understand that it's ultimately a business, and everyone involved is competitive both financially and in terms of winning (which you can argue can ultimately come back to the financial aspect as well).
Guys like Kirk, Brewer, Luol, etc. have left memories at this club that I'll always remember as a fan, but once the decision is made to let a guy go, you have to move on. What more do you expect the club to do for these guys? If you're going to have a statue for every guy who's ever played here, it defeats the purpose.

Quite frankly Scarlett, win me something. No modern Bull inspires me to care all that much about them. They aren't winners. My love/sentimentality is reserved mostly for the winners. I'd kill for Sottie, MJ, Horace, BC, Rodman, Harp, BJ, Pax and them. I ain't much caring about post Dynasty guys to worry myself about T shirts.

Amen, until Jo, Taj, Rose, Jimmy and any future Bull win another Championship they can be had for the next big thing. That's the reason The '85 Bears matter and no other Bear post '85 is given any real consideration as being hands off.

Agree, and I would argue the opposite of the OP actually.
Fans already fall in love with the personalties and individuals on the team to the point where they actually defend them against better players just because their familiarity has made them sympathetic to the players, faults and flaws and all.
And fans start getting this idea that they just want to see 'our guys' win a title and would rather try to do so with players they like than getting better players or improving the team in ways that could help us win even more.
But this is done with never realizing that if by chance the team had any of probably 95% of the other players in the league on the Bulls instead of any particular guy we actually have, they would grow to love and cheer for all those players just as much. Very few players in the league are such jerks that people actively root against them on their own team or want them replaced.
Just as an example, if Derrick Rose had never been on the Bulls, wasn't from Chicago, and had gone through all these struggles say on the Knicks, you would have trouble finding 5 in 100 Bulls fans that would say he would ever again, or even could be, the best PG in the league again. But because he is on our team, I wouldn't doubt if such a belief was upwards of 50%.
