Re: The Gerald Green Thread
If there is one thing Ryan McDonough loves, it's draft picks.
With the Lakers looking extremely bad, so bad that they Suns may not get their pick, which is top 5 protected, i'd be happy to give them our 1st rounder, which will obviously have the picks swap from the Cavs enabled to it.
That's a late lotto pick, and for both teams involved, i think that price is fair.
Two 2nd rounders would be better, though i don't see how realistic that is. If they would do it, sign me up, but i doubt they would.
This guy would be great off the bench, assuming Thibodeau would actually want to play him.
I like Green, but i have my concerns. He completely bombed in Indiana, and took off in NJ & PHO.
To me, it's clear he is a product of an up tempo, run and gun system. Does that fit here? Would he see more than 20 minutes?
Would he get that over Butler, Dunleavy & Kirk?
I don't think it's a home run, but it's probably the most cost effective move we can potentially make for a guy who is very unlikely to return to the Suns.
They just paid PJ Tucker and drafted TJ Warren. They also run 3 guard sets and play both the Morris brothers at the forward spots as well.
The writing is on the wall for Gerald.

G2 is one of my all time favorite players.
It's too bad he can't get an offense set around him, he would light so many teams up.

Re: The Gerald Green Thread
Green is dumb, he works in Phoenix because he just runs, shoots or finishes around the rim, he does not have to think, to work on his spots or to make decisions with the ball.
He will be a problem with Thibs system, it wont work.
Green should get traded, he has some value and is a FA, Phoenix is not re-signing him with Dragicx2, Goodwin, Warren, PJ Tucker and Marcus Morris (last two just re-signed) there under contract.

Re: The Gerald Green Thread
Watching the Suns vs Warriors game, and Green is a streak shooter who chucks.
He has 14 so far in the 4th and is killing the unbeaten Warriors, but the more you watch him, the more i think he barely plays for Thibodeau, especially if Dunleavy, Butler & Hinrich are on the roster.

We would love to have Green, but we're also not going to overpay for him. My guess is that its something like Snell + Nazr or Moore and a couple of 2nds. If not we'll stick with the team and go the buyout route.

FWIW, I still think we get a buy that gets bought out, but if the price on Green isn't high, we will be all over it.

With Snell's development, any way we look at doing a variation of that without Snell involved? If Tony can sustain this level of play I almost think he's better this season for us than Green would be.

Bairstow + Nazr + Moore
FWIW we've been having talks of trading Snell with other teams, but it isn't significant enough at this point to think anything will happen.

Green does nothing to help this team get over the hump. I guarantee the Bulls want nothing to do with Green, thankfully so.

If the Bulls can trade some players that aren't in the rotation for an efficient, athletic three point shooter, how does that not help the team?
Green wouldn't be my first choice but he's a good player that would fit in well.

Re: The Gerald Green Thread
I took a look at his offensive Synergy data based on these rumors, and it's clear why the front office would like him. For a guy who is a chucker (and he totally is, with a 28.2 usage rate!) he is actually pretty good in some of the key categories.
High volume, (though below average efficiency) in transition.
Good in iso (80%percentile) though it's a small sample size.
Surprisingly good as a pick and roll ball handler (16.8% of his offense 73rd percentile)
Very strong spotup shooter (20% of offense, 86th percentile)
Doesn't cut a ton (3.2% of offense) but is finishing off those plays like a beast (92nd percentile). This probably is a good thing when you project a potential fit next to Jimmy, who spends more time cutting (8% of offense)--you want a guy next to him who works from the outside in. Green is that.
Finally, he 9th overall in the league in terms of points off of screens, and does that efficiently (15% of offense, 62nd percentile).
The on off data shows that the suns have gotten an offensive boost and a defensive drag when he's been in the game. The fact that he struggled to catch on in Indiana should give one pause, but at least this year, the Bulls look more like a slower, but better defending version of the Phoenix team he is on now. I think he would be a great 6th man off of the bench and Dunleavy insurance for the playoffs if they are able to bring him in.

Re: The Gerald Green Thread
Green as a consolation prize if they don't get Martin works-
beware tho - Both Martin and Green average more 3 PT Attempts per game than anyone on the roster currently-
More than Rose and Dunlevy. So they will both look like chuckers here.
Martin gets to the FT stripe way more than Green.
Green would be a fab dunker here tho!

Re: The Gerald Green Thread
IMO, Gerald Green belongs on a team with an uptempo system that allows him to do what he does. When he went to Indiana, his game went in the tank. I fear he would revert to that here.
I'm also not convinced that he would play at all in Chicago, whether he's traded or bought out and signed. Thibodeau doesn't play these guys who are picked up late in the year (See: Rasual Butler, Jimmer, And Ronnie)

Thibs will have no choice but to play Green as long we trade Hinrich for him

Re: The Gerald Green Thread
I'm not convinced that thibs would play any of the two (green, martin), but we play very differently from previous years, we play much faster.
Also while both are in a long distance shooters, I believe Martin is more of a halfcourt player than green. I would apreciate if somebody can confirm this idea.
