He..........wouldn't............play...........EVER
Trade deadline gone, doubt there is anyone getting bought out who Thibs would actually play over someone who has been here all season.

Re: Shawne Williams
FO would've learnt from Jimmergate that there's no point signing anyone at this stage of the season

There is if the player is actually better than someone on the current roster (i.e. Perkins being better than Nazr or Bairstow before picking the Cavs) or someone like Ronnie Brewer that Thibs likes and is a better insurance policy than E'Twaun Moore. Thibs also always wants to add more bodies for practice purposes this late in the season.
The problem is some fans want the Bulls to add anyone that gets waived or bought out regardless of actual ability. Some people actually wanted Jimmer last season. Now it's Shawne Williams? That's when there's no point. He already has one garbage player in McDermott he won't play because he doesn't get the NBA system (and might never kind of like Jimmer). Let's not hope for more.

^This....
I would see him as mostly insurance for a Snell regress.
If he is a better wing defender than Mirotic, MDJ, or McD at SF....than he makes sense.
If he never plays...so be it. It isn't like the Bulls would be out of anything.

Re: Shawne Williams
On September 11, 2007, Williams was arrested in Indianapolis, Indiana on a charge of possession of marijuana. Two passengers in Williams' car were also arrested. One was charged with possession of marijuana, the other was charged with possession of a stolen handgun.
In January 2010, Williams was arrested in Memphis on felony drug charges for selling a codeine substance. Williams later pleaded guilty in April to misdemeanor drug possession.
On December 13, 2012, Williams was arrested again in Memphis on drug charges.
Also from other NBA executives:
His past includes several arrests and a desperate plea before a judge for his future — an act that led the former Nets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe, who had traded for and then released Williams, to utter that he was “luckily not our issue.”
“I told him, ‘It’s a different ballgame now,’ ” said Walsh, who kept Williams over the sentimental favorite Patrick Ewing Jr. for the last roster spot before the season. “ ‘If anything negative comes up, you’re out of here.’ ”
Not a Bulls type of guy. We will give chances to people who will atone for their mistakes and do their best to learn from them and better themselves. This guy is a serial offender and more importantly, hasnt learnt when to stop. Like I said, not a Bulls type of pickup.
For love, not money.

He's a better basketball player than Kirk is.
I'd welcome him aboard. We're trying to win a title here. He'd be our 4th best wing the moment he signed.

I didn't know that about him....
I don't get how someone could be lucky enough to make it to the NBA, but still be so stupid.

OK...on to the next one.

OK...on to the next one.
Actually thats exactly what the judge in Memphis said about him.
“You’ve got one skill, one God-given ability, and you’re doing everything you can to throw it away,” Judge James Beasley Jr. told Williams in August, according to The Commercial Appeal in Memphis.
Shawne's crew is the issue...he allows them too close to him and does not know how to say no. A guy like that, as talented as he maybe, will continue to go down the deeper, darker alleyways of life.
Its a sad reality for some folks, based on how they grew up and where they grew up. I feel for Shawne, but would not want him anywhere close to my locker room.
For love, not money.

Maybe it would be a good idea to bring him on as a 10-day and see how it works out, but it seems like if the Bulls wouldn't pick him up, he'd go somewhere else that would give him a guaranteed deal.
