The good thing right now is that he's playing and hopefully he will continue to do so without any more set backs.

The 3 point shooting is something I hope does come down to about 4 a game at most.

RB83, I really feel this team needs more production. Efficiency will come from Jimmy going to the line, the easy shots that the frontcourt is getting and the increased 3 point shooting as a team.

I think Rose should focus on production more than he does on efficiency.

Well yeah production is obviously needed. But you can't just expect it to be there that quickly.

What's important is that he has shown signs of being able to be that guy that we all knew and loved on the court. People don't like it and are always looking for a quick result or fix, but we have to be patient.

As long as he can stay healthy (and that's always the key ) he will get back to his old self (or at least very damn close to it).

I was surprised to look and see that per 36 minutes, Derrick's numbers are amazing close to his 2011-12 numbers. Strange to me because that version of Derrick, when he was healthy, was the best version I've seen, IMO. The Bulls were also historically dominant that season when he was healthy. What jumps out at you now, this season, is the large increase in 3 pt shots and his turnovers are up 1.6 per 36 and assists down 1.1. What stands out when you watch him play is the lack of aggressiveness and his willingness to settle for those 3 pt shots early in the shot clock when there are better options available.

If he could shoot 4-11 every game, like last night, it wouldn't be such a bad thing, it is .364, which is like shooting .550 from 2 pt. if all the shots were in the flow of the offense and open uncontested shots (guys leaving him wide open), are taken at strategically the right time, then by all means take them. But they are not, too many are bad shots.

My only complaints are I would prefer him taking around four 3's per game and he needs to stop making careless passes. A lot if his turnovers are easily avoidable and can be attributed to rust and getting to know Pau and he really hasn't played much with Jimmy or MDJ either.

Would like to see turnovers and assist-to-turnover ratio projections included in predicted stats here...

My prediction was off. I thought we would see Rose be more consistent by end of Jan.

I did say he would averge more than 20 points if he stayed healthy, which techinally per36 mins he's averaging 21.6 or something like that.

Love looking at old threads like this. The BEST is the D-Rose vs Beasley mega thread leading up to the draft. Posters were predicting Rose would average 20 and 10 -- even though he's even averaged over eight assists per game.

Hey we've all made crazy predictions. The day Kirk Hinrich was drafted -- I said he was Bryce Drew Jr. Didn't realize that would be such an insult to Bryce Drew.....

Though most point guards are bigger than Augustin, I wonder why Rose doesn't go to the post more often. He's stronger and more athletic than most guys his size. I think he'd have a lot of success down there.

Here are Rose's stats up-to-date: 18.4 .407 5.0 3.1 0.35 0.67. These numbers look better than what they really are. His 3 point attempts are outrageous. His post-up game doesn't exist. What does look good is his short jumper and his passing when not jumping in the air. Unfortunately his lack of bball IQ hasn't allowed him to recognize his strengths and to play up to his strengths on a consistent basis.

If his stats remain close to what they are now going forward and into next season, is he someone the Bulls should look to continue with in the future? I say NO!

Sorry for quoting myself. But..

johnnyvann840 wrote:I honestly have no idea. People keep saying he's missed almost two years, but it's more like almost three years. He's only played in 49 games in the last three years. That is a lot of rust. I hopee he is a little leaner and not as bulked up. I just feel like the hulked up Rose is a walking injury risk. Too much for his joints.

We're gonna know a lot by how the Team USA stuff goes and whether or not, he actually plays in the games or not. Rose could start playing hard on the repaired meniscus and have problems. They may need to do a re-repair. They may need to remove the repaired part. This is fairly common. Chase Budinger and others have recently been through this.

I'm concerned because he has taken abnormally long recovery times from both his injuries. All the athletes who come back at all star levels after these things seem to be the ones who come back fast and are playing right away. See Bledsoe, Westbrook, Griffin.

Somebody had to bump this freaking thread yesterday and I saw this post I made back then and thought ... well, looks good so far. That was yesterday.
