I know I may be alone, but if Carmelo were willing to take a 4 year 78 million dollar deal (19 million a season), I'd trade Taj, as well as MDJ, Boozer and Randolph to land him in an outright signing. You'd still have 5 million in capspace to offer Gasol or even Jordan Hill. No messing around with giving valuable assets to New York, and you can bring Mirotic over next summer.

PG-Rose/Hinrich (vet min)
SG-Butler/Snell
SF-Melo/McDermott
PF-Hill/Brand (vet min)/Bairstow
C-Noah/Kaman (BAE)/Smith

Isn't this a title contender? I understand the ideal scenario of landing Melo in a sign and trade. I want that too. But Houston couldn't pull it off last year with Dwight, and I'm not willing to lose Melo if New York flat out refuses to negotiate like the Lakers may have last off-season.

Lol...

I'm serious though. She's cool as hell, got a great personality, loves hip hop, and still keeps herself busy compared to just mooching off of her baller husband. I actually know who Lala is besides just being Melo's wife, that's probably a reassuring thing for her that people can say that.

Grade A wifey material right there.

Bulls get a 3 way involved, send the Kings pick and their 2015 to Philly to take on Boozer, Bulls trade Nikola and Mike to NY.

The Knicks board is really bitter. Damn. C'mon guys, let's not be like that. We're all friends here.

Let's be real, people spent the last 48 hours sullying Derrick's character and integrity over something that didn't even happen. I'm sorry, but folks deserve to get called out for that. As was reported, Derrick and his camp had already reached out to Melo, there was no reason to believe he wasn't part of the recruiting efforts just because of a generic, throw away line about not recruiting. It's all good though, glad Derrick, Jo and Taj stepped up, hopefully we see Melo in a Bulls uniform.

That's a load of bull. People reacted to a very poorly timed comment directly from his mouth. I firmly believe that all that outrage helped get him into the meetings today. Rose was killed all over the internet and radio for his comments. Now all of us here are Bulls fans, and everyone here wants what's best for this team - and what's best for the team is that Rose is part of it (on and off the court). To suggest that people get some sort of high from "sullying his character" is such a bad misrepresentation of this fan base. We're a passionate group. Let's not turn on each other with stupid accusations just because there is a disagreement.

Now we've heard that Rose not only showed up to the dinner, possibly worked out for Melo, and dropped by dinner. That's outstanding news and shows that he is firmly invested in the team's future. It's great to see that he made that effort, and it very well could be the difference.

It's not a representation of the fan base, it's a representation of a certain group of fans, and it's quite accurate for that group. If you're not a part of that group then great, it's not directed at you. But hey, I spoke my peace, I feel the way I feel, and we see how it turned out and Derrick did indeed recruit like so many predicted he wouldn't. Derrick proved he's a team player like so many felt he wasn't. Oops for them. Now hopefully championships ensue.

Knicks fans don't want any assets for their departing superstar? LOL ok then.

Man took me a minute to recognize who the old bald guy was shaking Melo's hand. I've seen pictures of Paxson somewhat recently but it still doesn't register.

People predicted he wouldn't recruit because he specifically said he wouldn't. On several occasions.

**** id be bitter too if the guy i had been rooting for is off talking to other teams.

But in the end both teams will move forward with their respective directions regardless of melo's decision. Our direction is brighter but hey...

Yeah, Lala has her own career going on, TV show, movies, hosting gigs. She's not gonna stop Melo from leaving New York if it boosts his career and is something he really wants to do, just like Melo isn't gonna tell Lala she can't do a film or TV show she wants to do. If Melo wants to compete for a title next year and play for the Bulls then he'll be here and she'll be by his side.

I wonder if Melo and the Bulls will get grief like LeBron and the Heat do. Well, maybe not that extent...but I'm sure there will be some.
