pretty much the exact same trade I proposed yesterday but I think it's a WINNER

Are you talking about getting IT and Tristan Thompson, or did you just misspell Tristan Thompson?

Niko and holiday for a pick swap?

besides the fact that I would be hard pressed to help clevelend just because well, i hate that idea.

that's not really a win for us, TT is not a game changer for us any more than niko and hes' expensive, the swap might only be 3 spots vs the Brooklyn pick.
if a pick swap is worth niko, then i'd rather do a 180 and offer a pick swap to another team for their quality player on a contract that we can afford, (and we can afford quite a pile)

Just thinking that if maybe we're willing to trade down from 10'ish for a 20'ish, and take on salary, (lots of it too) maybe we can capitalize on established players over rookie deals, we're already young, don't really need to get younger.

we are 7 deep with a lotto pick and what. 50 million in cap?
I'm really convinced we're 2 established players away from being on the list of top 8 contenders, 3 players from being top 4.
screw the prospects, spend the money and bring in a couple established studs via trade or FA and lets compete next year.

there are only a handful of teams with significant cap space next year we're competing with, we're only behind Indy in cap space right?

Actually, the more I think about it, the more it might be good to dangle Nwaba as trade bait. I love the guy, but I bet the next time Curry plays him, he's gonna have David all figured out. Right now he is a really intriguing piece for any team to throw at the Warriors.

Awful deal for Chicago. If we are making a trade for a player I want one that is proven good, around the same age or younger and plays a different position.

Niko is on a 1 plus 1 (team option) deal and he has many flaws. Not much time. Maybe we should tone down what the return would be?

I mean, I hope you're right, but I don't think Niko is getting back more than a first and a lotto ticket.

Johnson is garbage
There pick will be 20 if we give them Niko
Your trade stinks.

Stanley Johnson was the 8th overall pick. That didn't happen by chance. I'm sure you were crying about how Kris Dunn was garbage too when we got him.

If you don't want to give in then be prepared for Niko to walk in a year and a half. If you are okay with that then so be it.

Detroit is NOT going to become a top 10 team because of Nikola Mirotic -_____________-

It's a bit different - SJ is in his 3rd year and has had ample opportunity in each of those seasons. His performance hasn't improved in that time at all. It's the complete opposite to Dunn.

There' still some theoretical upside there but his value should be minimal.

Stanley Johnson has played three seasons and still sucks. Like not shown any signs of being good. Draft status means nothing at this point. Dunn had only played one NBA season regardless of his age.

There is no proof that our best option would anything equivalent to what you suggested. And if so we need to wait until the off-season became what you suggested is terrible.

Too funny. You aren't wrong. You really aren't. But I wish I could go back and find those old threads when Jimmy Butler and everyone on here under the sun was trashing Laurie and Kris.

We have no idea what a change of scenery and more opportunity would mean to Stanley Johnson. None.

Either way, Stanley isn't why you're making that trade. That's just a lotto pick.

A mid first (Detroit's would probably be #20ish) is why you make that trade. Will that player ever be as good as Niko? Not sure. But I would rather find out then watch Niko in a "rebuild" for the next two years.

Let me clarify, I also have no issue with Niko being a part of the future. He fits. It just seems like the FO is trying to get him out of town. Might as well take a shot and get something in return if that's the case.

If you don't agree with my trade, go ahead and make a realistic trade scenario yourself. Going to be real tough to get fair value for Niko.

Niko is trending towards being worth that BKN Pick.

Niko and Holiday for Shumpert and BKN Pick with top 1 protection for CLE.

Taking on Tristan Thompson would be a hard pill to swallow even for the Brooklyn pick. He doesn't fit this team at all and has what 3 years of ridiculous salary left?

The problem with letting CLE put top 1 protection on the pick is that they have nothing else to offer if the pick does become #1. It would either be the Cavs pick this year (around 25) or their pick in 2021. Neither sounds appealing. Philly could put that protection on the Lakers pick in the Fultz trade because they have SAC pick next year.

I wonder how much interest the Wolves have in Holiday. Their bench wing rotation is so bad right now that adding a replacement level guy like Justin would probably make a huge impact for them.

Chicago Bulls Receive:
Ian Mahinmi - C
Kelly Oubre - SF
2018 1st (Utah - top 10 protected)
2019 1st (WAS - lottery protected)

Washington Wizards Receive:
Derrick Favors
Justin Holiday
Jerian Grant

Utah Jazz Receives:
Nikola Mirotic
Denzel Valentine

PG: Kris Dunn | David Nwabe | Cameron Payne
SG: Zach LaVine | Quincy Pondexter | Antonio Blakeney
SF: Kelly Oubre | Paul Zipser
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Bobby Portis
C: Robin Lopez | Ian Mahinmi | Cristiano Felecio

Why?
Bulls are able to add a young SF (Kelly Oubre) that has been consistently improving each year along with 2 1st round (protected) draft picks. Taking on Mahinmi's poor contract (15 mil/year thru 2020  ) hurts, but is necessary to acquire a future 1st round pick. Lose a lot of depth which should improve the Bulls draft position come the 2018 draft. It also matches up with some of the rumors we have heard. (Grant/Niko package) (Niko to Utah) (Willing to take salary for assets)

Exactly. After Lebron leaves. I’d make the protection on our end their 1st in 2018 and 2020

The right to swap picks is likely very little value. You get #8 instead of 9? Bulls should ask for pick outright and move on if that’s not available

The Chicago Bulls are not getting the Brooklyn pick. At least not at the deadline.

Return to Chicago Bulls
