It’s all part of the plan. Pick the Head Coach that Anthony Davis wants when he becomes a free agent in the summer of 2020.
AKME got to go

The Bulls just "do the right thing" sometimes. Boylen is now the head coach, so they gave him a small bump that is not guaranteed beyond this season. He's the head coach.

Basically what I said. I figured. A lot of over-reacting in this thread. The Bulls aren't locking themselves into anything meaningful or showing any sort of genuine commitment to Boylen here. Take a deep breath.
I dunno Duck. Word was out during Hoiberg's firing that Boylen was being retained after this year.
And then we have this. Why guarantee him any amount of money for next year if you plan on firing him? We know thats not how this team operates.
No actually I disagree they do operate that way. They paid Pip. They paid Jay Will both when they didn’t have to as an offer of goodwill. They have paid plenty of ex players and given them staff jobs etc... Jerry is good about paying his people. Now I was livid when I saw this but the fact that next year is not gaurenteed makes me a lot less angry. I will be angry once again if we go into next season with him at the helm. This is almost like a bonus for the FO for stepping up and taking the HC job knowing they won’t pay him big money ever.

This is the part where the front office compounds their cost-driven move with a lie that treats us like were born fuccing yesterday. Fucc them.
No, no, no. If anything, it confirms their lack of commitment to him. They gave him a "bump" to 1.6 million, which probably make him the lowest paid head coach by quite a bit, and only guaranteed the part of it that he was already due to be paid under his old contract. This is from the Tribune in early December when Hoiberg was fired:Boylen isn’t carrying an “interim” tag on his newly minted head coach title with the Bulls, who fired Fred Hoiberg on Monday. Boylen also has every chance to keep the job. Team sources said Boylen’s already hefty associate head coach salary for next season — just shy of $1 million — will be “looked at” for possible renegotiation.
Don't sweat it. This isn't the story many are interpreting it to be.

I’m on the brink of leaving and not looking back. I hate to shyt can over 30 years of being a die hard Bulls fan. The past 20 years have been rough with one bright spot in Rose that ended up being even worse after all the injuries.
How much more can a fan take? Our franchise cannot be this disconnected from reality. I am seriously at a loss right now.

Why the green font? Other than the idiots part, the rest of what you wrote is ACTUALLY what happens with sports franchises. Especially the Bulls.

Thread could use a title change:
Yeah, I can understand that. I did just copy/paste the Sun-Times article title though. I had my own thoughts when I first saw it, but I tried to be relatively nuetral by not commenting when I posted it.
If a mod wants to edit the title that would obviously be cool with me.
I was actually referring to RealGM itself, their Wiretap headline.

For what its worth, this means we are doubling down as usual.
When Karen was moved to Associate Coach, that was the sum result of 33 years of tenure in the Bulls organization.
That's who replaced Boylen. And Boylen has been "promoted" to Head Coach for just 2 seasons.
This organization doubles down on its inner circle and internal talent a lot. I'd be surprised if Boylen is stymied in any way from cracking the whip.
The young ones are in for a world of pain.

Okay this is very close to the final straw for me. Extending Gar was one thing but extending Boylen is completely absurd.

Well I hope the Bulls lose every game this year from here on out. I want to see this blow up in their faces. Maybe fans can start getting the message and not buy season tickets moving forward.

I don't have a problem giving him a bump in 2018-19; it's the extra money next year that makes no sense because they simply didn't have to do it.

Absolute joke of a franchise. GarPax should have been fired ages ago. Not only is there zero accountability but they actually reward people or their incompetence. Incredible.

Bulls should sign Mark Jackson to coach this team. He could develop the young guys the right way. He would bring a positive culture to the team and players will end up liking him.

Mark Jackson should be kept far far away from this team.
He’s a hypocrite, fake religious, crap human being that has such low confidence in himself that he turns his own players against other players on his team as a means attempting to create individuals loyal to himself above all else.
The few fans that consistently bring up Jackson as a coaching option should really read about him

Re: Source: Bulls give Jim Boylen salary bump, deal through at least next season
I'm fine with this. The young injury prone roster is the bigger problem right now. Lauri and Wendell have no post game, zach while our best player is eh on d, and takes questionable shots, the sf is well....we dont have one, and while I really like dunn, he's not really an offensive guy who can consistently put the team on his back and win games. Then you have the bench....
Fred deserved to be fired because he literally did nothing. Showed no expression, didn't get on the refs etc. Jim at least is trying to change this culture from what fred left behind.

I’m sorry but I have to disagree. The plan is to have AD play AND coach the team. That’s how we are able to land the big fish. We thought all this time we couldn’t land a free agent because of the city when it has been because they couldn’t coach the team also.

They won’t even try to find a different coach during the off season. lol!
This franchise will be in the dumpster for a long time with GarPax still at the helm.

Keep him as far away from this team as possible. A horrible person and bad coach.
Give me Monty Williams
