I wouldn't even take his questions if I was one of the players. We just took a contending team to the brink despite missing 5 players and he's still throwing shade.

The Bulls probably would've won if they didn't have so many turnovers and if OPJ and Lauri weren't out. If the team can get a good pass first PG in clutch situations where Zach and Coby can play off ball more in those moments, it will make a difference. Zach's level of play is still impressive despite a few hero ball decisions he sometimes don't have to make towards the end of games. Never the less, it was an entertaining game with guys like Wendell, Coby, and PW developing in certain areas. Well, at least in majority of their losses so far, they don't look heavily outmatched like early last season.

The defensive rebounding is bad they need more from everybody.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

I still say Lauri's defense is underrated. I easily see him being an "average" defender at least. He is not a defensive sieve. The defensive troubles we had at the beginning of the season was WCJ guarding no one and our guards sh*tting the bed. Both of those have improved immensely since then. That'll just help Lauri look better.

He's not a game changer defensively but he's also not an anchor keeping them from being a good defensive team. The defense side of his game will grow with the team.

As for the offensive end, it will help take some load off of Lavine. I think these games are showing that Coby isn't really a viable second option right now. He can get hot but he's not consistent enough for it. Lauri can BE that player who is a backbone to keep the offense moving. His shooting will also open the floor up to make things easier. OPJ had that role covered a bit but faltered the last few games. Thad isn't that kind of shooter. Pwill's shot looks nice but he's not a high volume shooter. WCJ...let's not talk about his shot (although he seems to be rounding into form for everything besides 3 point shooting).

Also, I am optimistic about our record/win rate this year too barring major injuries. They are playing competitive ball and if it keeps up, these close losses will be wins with the full rotation. Sato alone will help cut down on the horrendous turnovers. 1 TO less could be the difference between losing and winning these close games.

Zach keeps flirting with 50. Sooner or later it's gonna happen.

I would bet you any amount of money something similar will not happen this year.

defensive ratings

2005 - 6th

2007 - 1st

2011 - 1st

2020 - 28th

The same will not happen as we are not good defensively. It is way more likely that we are a .300 team.we would be lucky if we finish .400-.500

Right now, the Bulls are 4-7. That's a 36.3% win rate. Barring trade or major injury, I would be surprised if they don't end up better than that but I don't make internet bets.

A lot of what has happened so far this year, defensively, is kind of flukey. The team is giving effort and the rotations are improving. I think the defensive ranking is going to improve a lot as the season goes on. There has also been a noticeable learning curve. Wendell was terrible early on. The whole team was constantly missing assignments. You can see it getting cleaned up slowly, game by game.

I agree.

The rotations were really bad at the start of the season, but Wendell is trimming into shape (and gaining confidence), and the big thing: PW is now looking comfortable. Coby and Zach make errors, but I'll live with them considering their huge offensive load. Thad is much better than heavy Otto (on the defensive end). Once Sato comes back to relieve Coby, I expect that defensive rating to climb.

Now the big question will be how Lauri slips back in. Board's pretty equally divided on him right now. I acknowledge he started hot, but IMO he has to give a 100% effort to be an average defender, if not still be a liability when paired with Coby/Zach. I really think we're better off starting Temple, Thad or Otto. Lauri can microwave off the bench. But I know he's the designated starting PF, so we'll see. I just don't see any chance in hell the defense runs as well; not only because of his abilities, but because of chemistry.
You see that's the beauty of this season.. how does Lauri fit in? It's questions like that that make this season great.

We have to remember GarPax isn't our front office anymore.

Questions like "how does Lauri fit" into this positive trending line up is huge

If he doesn't fit and it makes us worse we get answers to some questions.

BD makes some adjustments and the results of that are evaluated. It's an actual rebuild as opposed to the **** we've been fed as fans since Derrick went down.

Also about the Vets, yes trade some when the trade is on the table and a net positive, however the vets are vital to the other part of this season, building a tougher, gritter winning culture.

Without the vets we may be 0-11 at the moment, and that does nothing for the mental make up of our insanely young core.

If we get 20 ppg 40 percent on 3s Lauri back we are gonna win a lot of games.

I really feel like Zach puts up 30+ ppg this year WITH modestly good defense, but he won’t be an all star and we will struggle to win 25.

BillyD says we are beating ourselves. Says the guys have grown a lot and improved. You can tell he believes we can every game.

I think we win a lot more than that if we can keep close to a full roster. Closer to 35. Zach is playing like an all-star whether he makes it or not.

It's true. The unforced turnovers are a double negative, it takes away an offensive possession from the bulls and on the other end gives an easier offensive possession for transition/not set defense buckets. Then it compounds when you have multiple bad possessions in a row.

If they can work on that and improve by reducing the TOs, we would have a much better chance of winning games without relying on the last shot.

Zach gonna have to avoid covid. He might not this year but losing him for any long period of time Chicago will not make the playoffs.

We need another legit efficient scorer here. We got a bunch of developing guys like Lauri and Coby. But we need one more that teams need to be truly concerned about

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Lauri's lack of defense and motor not being around to hurt the team is a big reason why the team is playing better but ain't nobody wanna hear that…
