Masai says no. He will let Siakim walk unless he gets a haul for him.

One issue with trading for Siakam is that he's up for a contract extension so he'll get a big deal soon.

I agree with you that the scenario above isn't enough for Masai to trade him.

GMs usually do not let players, especially good proven players, walk away from the ORG without getting something back. That just doesn't happen.

Well that is why he is in talks for the most part for this year. I just don't think Masai is afraid to be chicken, he will get his best haul for him at the deadline from a team who wants to make that last push and will rent and hope to resign him.

Oddly enough - Gobert did reset the market (well Mitchell too a bit) and the trades are a little more reasonable but Masai can still get more than that package and will likely get it

I wonder how much he can get for Pascal. Good player, but many contending (or want to be contending) teams have traded off a good amount of draft picks. There might not that many teams with good assets that they can deal with.

On another note, 'm not sure why Toronto traded for Poeltl, but I guess they're thinking that they can compete (in a similar way that the Bulls do)?

I guess hoping Barnes and OG evolve and Poetl but yeah that team is very mid and not properly balanced. Too many duplications.

NBA hell is a figment of the imagination of desperate "writers".

We have what, like half the cap committed to after next season? Yeah, totally "stuck" lol.

But, but, but we don't have "future assets" to improve with!

(Looks around at great players selected with picks anyone could have in Jokic, Butler, Giannis, Kawhi, etc)

There is one reason and only one reason why the Bulls are in NBA Hell and at best mediocrity. That is Bulls Ownership. Look at a team like the Suns that had a garbage owner for all these years and now with an ownership change and an Owner that actually prioritizes winning above profits, the Suns have built a superteam and will probably be the favorites to win it all next year.

The same Suns team with said garbage owner, was up 2-0 in the Finals two seasons ago.

This same garbage owner bought the Suns at a time when Mike D'Antoni was still an interim coach who went 21-40, but he still kept him around, approved the signing of Steve Nash, and the SSOL offense was born.

To say that this garbage owner prioritized profits above winning was, frankly, a garbage take.

Are you referring to Reinsdorf or Starver? Remember Starver is a guy that promoted racism and a hostile working environment and eventually was forced out. I think that more than qualifies him as a garbage owner. It has been well documented that Starver has refused to spend money on things like Scouting, etc.

Reinsdorf once infamously said he would give up all 6 Bulls Championships for 1 White Sox Championship. The guy has always used the Bulls as a cash cow to support his true passion which is baseball and the White Sox.

They both are terrible Owners. Reinsdorf just hasn’t been stupid enough to make a mistake that would force him out like Starver and Sterling.
