But in any case, seems to me like her rebounding dominance isn't going anywhere, and she has obvious runway for improvement on her shooting efficiency. She's good.

I'd need to really sit down and think about the ORTG formula a lot to understand it, but it has offensive rebounds in there generally:

I don't think this is really true. Her percentages were awful, but if you take all the extra possessions added via offensive rebounding and then measure her as points per net possession, she would be an absolutely elite offensive player.

nnnnnno, an elite offensive big would not be one dimensional. he/she would be a good/great offensive rebounder AND a good passer AND a volume, efficient scorer (by far the most important category). like charles barkley. reese is not on the same planet as charles barkley

Yeah, that's fair. I'll say instead she has a positive impact on the offense, not a negative one.

Looks like Cardoso is gonna shoot the ball every time she gets it down low if she isn't double-teamed, as opposed to last season, when she would often pass it out while being guarded one-on-one by a smaller player. That's gonna be a huge boost to the Sky's offense.

they looked alright to start. reese seems more coordinated and had some point forward moments that could be interesting.

Fever are just on another level right now.

If they defend like this, they are gonna be very difficult to beat.

The Sky aren't going to be very good, but they might not be as outright bad as they looked. This revamped version of Indy, the one that now has defenders at both forward positions instead of traffic cones, is a nasty piece of work. They're going to make a lot of WNBA teams look ugly this season.

Yep.

They addressed all of their weaknesses, and upgraded exponentially with Stephanie White as the head coach.

Meh, Angel overreacted but Caitlin knows that it was more than just the take foul given the extra shove at the end. Either way, it actually felt kinda staged to me. If you’re going to make a statement like that (Clark) why wait until now given all the times they saw each other last season? Kinda felt like a made for tv moment.

There was a little mustard on the dog there, sure. But given the subplot, girls will be girls. If it was staged, it maintains everyone’s brand, for better or worse, respectively. Angel should have asked for a rewrite.

This is more on Reese and her issues with Clark vs the other way around. She didnt say ish to Alyssa Thomas last year and that was a considerably worse foul.

and for those that dont know both Reese and Clark flop all the time.

Ngl.. I'm somehow more hyped about WNBA season. Clark got me into it last season. Now I know more about other WNBA players. Something feels a bit like the 90s NBA. I don't know what it is, is it the talent parity? Or just me being new to the game. But one thing for sure about WNBA that reminds me about 90s NBA, for me it's the familiarity with some of these college players that enters the league. CC, Reese, Bueckers, Cardoso, Boston, etc. Reminds me of when 2-4 year college guys like Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning, Jamal Mashburn, Ray Allen, Iverson, etc. came into the league. Because they've built rigorous credentials in college, I was really looking forward to see them in the NBA. Same with these WNBA players. The NBA draft is full of money-driven underclassmen. Maybe this is the pros of WNBA low salary. But I do hope WNBA becomes more popular and the players salary increase as well. But I'd say having more established upperclassmen entering WNBA is a good thing that should remain that way.

Yes, the WNBA is helped by getting 4-year college stars as rookies. Those who watched the college game are already invested in Page, Citron, Paopao, Kiki, and so forth.

To return to the Sky, Cardoso remains a work in progress. Her entire game is about getting the ball 3 feet from the basket, which isn't as silly as it would be in the modern NBA, because in the WNBA unlike the NBA that still happens a lot for centers. But in this game at least the Fever were effective in denying that play, and when they did, forcing Cardoso further away from the rim, she looked lost. She needs to get found, because the Sky's plan is to build around their twin towers. That's not going to happen if Cardoso doesn't become more versatile. (Angel, too, but that is a lesser problem.)

the coach with players post game interviews always feel weird to me. wnba needs to do them separately like the nba does.

Cardoso kind of a bum honestly.

Reese and Atkins are fine. Other than that it's ugly.

Reese is limited offensively, IMO.

People keep saying she's going to develop an offensive game. That's like saying Jaxson Hayes will develop the Dream Shake.

I'm not saying she's tapped out, but there's an upper limit on how good she can be. She does not have natural touch and coordination, and her mechanics are just terrible.

However, she's a great rebounder, and she's active.

And for 8+ seasons after that. All these WNBA players who treated Clark like crap last year will be standing in line to play with her.

Except Angel Reese, unless she loses her juice as a social media personality and people stop caring about her drama.

I hadn’t even seen that when I just took a shot at Reese. What a soft clown. I feel bad for Sky fans.

P.S. I’m not one of those dopes who just hates on Reese because Caitlin is the Great White Hope. I hate that Shyte.

Reese is just an embarrassment in my opinion. It would be hard for me to root for the Sky if they were my team.
