July 1st it expires
Do we lose that TPE on July 1st, too? Am I correct in thinking it was draft or bust for that thing or do we still get it?
If we lose it, what a **** joke. We wasted it with Thomas Robinson on the table.

Perfect post.
This is the problem. We all know we need to get better, we all know Aldridge is better, we all know we've got assets, but then all of a sudden nobody wants to use the assets to get better. If you guys don't want Aldridge, who do you want? Are you guys all holding out for Love? I like Kevin Love as much as the next guy, and I'd love to have him on the team too, but LMA is available, nay, asking for the Bulls right now, and all of a sudden
Rose/Butler/Deng/Aldridge/Noah or Rose/Tyreke/Butler/Aldridge/Noah
gives us a lineup that a) legitimately might be the best in the league, and b) following the Boozer amnesty, doesn't necessarily have to be filled out by minimums AGAIN. We'd be sitting so pretty.

My post was simply to respond to the discussion before about stats and how much of an upgrade Aldridge really was over Boozer.
I'd like LMA on the Bulls, but I don't want to gut the team, and if that's what it would take then I would rather stand pat. I think our current team is a contender.

Thank you again. Any idea when Rip's option has to be addressed? Because we need to try to move that too before we just have to decline it.

If he isn't waived on or before July 10th then the contract becomes fully guaranteed according to Sham's website.

So as far as assets go, both the TPE and Rip could net us something for around $5 million. Thomas Robinson and Kyle Korver would be my guys.

Re: LaMarcus Aldridge Wants Chicago Part 2
Heres the problem I see with the whole Aldridge thing. Boozer is a much much better rebounder than Aldridge. Aldridge is a slightly better scorer than Boozer. And that is pretty slight. And in fact in 2011-12 Boozer was a little more efficient than Aldridge as a shooter while Aldridge got to the line a little more and hits a higher percentage. This year Boozer shot poorly but I would guess having no real point guards with any passing ability factored in there.
Here is the thing. People seem to just assume Aldridge is better defensively. I watch a lot of Portland games and I just don't see it. He is longer and certainly a better shot blocker, however, he is weaker. He doesn't rebound well defensively, and he isn't a high effort guy. Portland was dead last in the NBA giving up points in the paint last year. Now certainly JJ Hickson being your center plays into that a lot but the point remains that Lamarcus Aldridge is not a strong defensive player.
I don't see the point of doing this trade unless boozer is somehow in the trade, having them both is stupid and amnestying boozer this year is stupid.

I wouldn't be so sure. If the Bulls were willing to part with Noah for LMA, it'd be done by now. But they're not, so it's not, and yet Ralph says we're still going after LMA. I believe the Bulls believe they can get it done without Noah.

Noah is easily a more valuable player than Aldridge. Its Lamarcus Aldridge! Hes a borderline all-star not Amare in his prime.

Re: LaMarcus Aldridge Wants Chicago Part 2
I haven't read all 168 pages about this, but one of the first things that occurred to me is that a Noah for LMA swap might actually be something I could stomach if we had kept Omer over Taj. Not sure, but it makes it a closer question. We'd still have good size after the trade - LMA can be a small ball center - in fact, he's nearly the ideal size and speed to deal with Christina - but as it is, we would be left with no true center if Noah leaves. I think the Pacers and Spurs showed that having a rim protecting center can be a critical ingredient in beating those chuckleheads.
Anyway, just a thought. I am thinking Ralph et al are right; the Blazers are going to try to get a king's ransom for LMA, but as time goes on and he keeps wanting out, the price will drop. Once it drops to the point where they're not demanding Noah, you start to NEGOTIATE. Would love to keep at least one of Mirotic or the Bobcats pick out of it, but I'd probably let them both go in the end.

Right now, in order to make the deal happen today, the price is Noah and those other assets.
That's insane. However, it very well might be posturing and them trying to get the best offer they can. Maybe if the Bulls are patient they can wait until Portland finds that they can't get what they want for him.
I would say that Portland is really going to regret passing on #1 and #19 for Aldridge, but this draft was so terrible I'm not sure that is the case. This might turn out to be one of the worst drafts in the modern NBA.

Agree.

In addition to trying to sell high on him, I think they simply would like to keep him. He's still their best player today. They're hoping that having Lillard, an improved bench, and a real center if they can find one will be enough to make the playoffs and keep him happy.
I wouldn't expect them to budge on their asking price until early next year.

Aldridge isn't a borderline all-star, he's a legitimate one and he's being heavily underrated in these threads. And Noah isn't "easily" a more valuable player.

Seriously. People just spew crap out of their mouths to fit their agenda.
Deng is easily a more valuable player than Paul George. It's Paul George! He's a borderline all-star, not Scottie Pippen in his prime!
You see how easy that is?

When do the excuses stop for Boozer...This is the weakest one yet...

OK. Now post their numbers against the Heat.
