Re: NBA Trade Thread #2
Are there any upcoming young SF prospects? I'm not talking about superstars, but players with some issues and some potential.
I would hope, Lauri returns the previous years standards and we trade him for a similar kind of underachieving player but at the SF position.

Can we trade for Cam Reddish? Hawks have too many guys, I think Reddish is going to ball.

He can definitely develop into a really good player, but I think ATL's asking price will be high. He's 1/2 the Luka trade.
If I'm the Hawks, I just keep the farm. That core has the potential to be an elite roster in 2 years, ala Celtics. Of course they would've been better off with Luka, but at the same time, by not getting as great a player (but still getting a great player), they were able to stack the deck in Trae's favor. Between cap-space and the extra top-10 picks, I think they drafted and signed well. They should be patient with Hunter, Cam and Okongwu.
I also kinda expect SAC to match Bogdan, much to everyone's dismay. Cause that's what they do. Screw up trades and then get themselves into cap trouble by signing guys who don't compliment the roster or timeline. Collins is the guy they'll move, to allow Cam and Hunter to play some PF. He's gonna be an RFA looking for a big extension, and they don't need him with Gallo and Okongwu coming in.

Let see which contenders have large TPEs by the end of free agency. They could be good targets for Lauri, Otto, Thad and Sato.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

That's what I anticipate happening.
Kennard got the 17th pick. That is Lauri's floor in a trade for a pick in next year's draft that will be way better IMO.

CHI gets
Justise Winslow
Nic Claxton
Gorgui Dieng
21 Utah 1st via Memphis
BKN 22 1st
MEM gets
Caris Levert
Spencer Dinwiddie
Cristiano Felicio
BKN gets
Zach Lavine
Thaddeus Young
Daniel Gafford
Justise gets a shot playing PG here. He wants that opportunity. Lets Coby play off ball and still defend PGs.
I also like Claxton better than Gafford. Has elite perimeter D potential.
Essentially switching Felicio with Dieng to make salaries work.

I think people are overestimating what Zach would return at this point. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think theres many teams if any that see him as a 1st or 2nd scorer on a really good team.AirLaVine8 wrote:dpucane wrote:CHI gets

T.J. Warren, Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre. None of those guys dramatically improve your team though, especially if you're trading Lauri.
Perhaps Paul George if things don't work out for the Clippers this season?

You have massively underestimated what we could get. The guy averaged 25/5/5 on a injury ravaged, embarrassingly badly coached team, and is on $20m contract. He should be an all-star and likely will be next season.
To trade him for scrap is..... well nuts to be nice about it.
If you want to deal Zach, you demand an all star player minimum in return.

"Minimum"??
News flash: there's not an All Star in this league you could get with just LaVine. This is insanity. For a guy who's had a bright green light, sky-high usage and absolutely no accountability for a long time, the excuses have to stop.
He's not a winning player. For a contender, a guy like Zach is a true luxury piece. A set of flashy rims.

I don't agree with Minimum either, but it's insane to Play him down as much as you do. Zach Needs help, AK should not look to trade him - he should look to get him some more help.

What’t the need to trade him for such a low return, then? He’s well worth his contract and, at 25, still improves every year.

Trading for a wing who shot 38% in his rookie season would be unnecessarily risky.

Re: NBA Trade Thread #2
I dont think it's that low a return. Both those picks could have more value than #4 did on this draft. Winslow fits AKEVs vision of 2 way versatile players and Claxton is a very good prospect. Maybe it would be possible to get Memphis' pick instead of Utah's and get some 2nds added, but i dont think you're getting much more for Lavine. There arent many bad GMs anymore, and the ones that might be bad dont have much to offer for him right now.aramada wrote:dpucane wrote:I think people are overestimating what Zach would return at this point. It’s a bad trade. LaVine is on the verge of an all-star season (if guys stay healthy). If AK decides to blow it up, it will be next off season for a top 5 draft pick in 2021.

Re: NBA Trade Thread #2
Here's one that BKN might consider if they don't nab Harden. Otto/Hutch/Arci for Dinwiddie/Prince. If I look at their roster, their hole is at SF. Levert and Dinwiddie have similar skillsets and neither is a legit SF, Harris is better suited at SG. Prince has a limited offensive game. Otto would give them the efficient 2/way 3-D SF that would thrive alongside the others. Hutch gives them depth/protection if Otto leaves and, IMO, has as much upside as Prince. Arci gives them some PG depth and frees a roster spot for us.
