It felt like to me that he was retweeting this one specifically because he shared similar sentiments.

Him and Rip were pretty good friends apparently, so it might just be him showing love and stuff.

Chauncey Billups to return to Detroit. Another team to scratch. I think the Bulls biggest competitors are the Jazz and Raptors... and probably the Hawks if they don't match Teague's offer.

No reason to talk about competitors for his service, since that makes it sound like they are trying to get him back. It looks like Nate, and the FO, realized there would be no playing time, but told him that in the unlikely event he could not find a better situation, they would still give him a minimum contract, as an emergency player.

Nate seems like a good guy so I hope he finds a situation that at least provide some playing time, with the more money the better. With 29 other GMs out there, you would think someone could find playing time for the guy.

Well, we supposedly have made an offer to him.

Nate is 29, he won't ever get a big paycheck after this one.

Yeah, KC just tweeted that his chances that Nate comes back are "0.9%" :( Of course, he didn't say WHY he thought that way. My guess is that either the FO or Nate (more likely the FO) have no interest in him coming back, even at the minimum. Sad if true.

KC (half-jokingly?) puts the Bulls chances of keeping Nate at 0.9%.

When he said we were going to fill the rest of the roster with minimum contracts, Dunleavy was signed shortly after for the mmle. KC's tweet should be a separate thread celebrating Nate's re-signing. This is wonderful news.

Its crazy how uninformed the Bulls beat writers are. I suspect that the FO tells them nothing and if they do hear something, they sit on it out of loyalty. it seems that guys like Bucher and Woj scoop the beat writers by having good contacts with the players and agents.

I actually tweeted KC back and asked him if his opinion was based on thinking that someone else would offer more or that there was some kind of problem between Nate and the FO. Of course, no response. :) That would actually be interesting journalism. I think your theory of sitting on it out of loyalty holds a lot of water. About the only thing I've heard any of the beat writers be definitive about is that Friedell is adamant that the Bulls will amnesty Boozer after next year.

There should be zero shock at the 0.9% comment. I mean, the way the roster is currently built, and the amount they're going to spend to fill two spots (and the taxpaying they're already looking at) i think we all know deep down Nate is elsewhere next yr.

Plus from Nate's point of view: We offer (1) low money (2) no minutes.

I would think it's more than 0.9% if we've actually offered him a contract. Dude posts nothing but pictures of him on the Bulls, vacations with Boozers, is going to see Teague play, doesn't seem to be getting offers elsewhere.

If he doesn't get any other offers, I don't see him going over to Europe or retiring.

Yeah, if it comes down to nothing but vet minimum offers-- which still seems like kind of a stretch, given that the actual signings have only just begun-- I don't see it as a foregone conclusion that Nate would take another team's minimum over ours. Ours could be 20% higher than other teams (although it wouldn't shock me if it's not), and we're a legitimate contender.

Would he take the Knicks over us? Don't know. They traded away his nemesis, Steve Novak, so maybe that clears a path...

to be fair, didn't he say that the bulls were expected not to use the MMLE? certainly it wasn't expected that someone of dunleavy's caliber would be available for the MMLE
