I don't think anyone is going to force their way to LA. AD has injury issues and LeBron has father time creeping up on him.
I could see someone forcing their way to the Knicks or Heat.

Also tends to be very buddy buddy based, and Lebron isn't friends with a lot of the current generation of stars. It was interesting he got AD to buy in, but it's not like AD was best friends with anyone in New Orleans either.
I can definitely see fellow banana boater CP3 headed there however.
TBH I think last year's playoffs were very unusual, and that long mid season break was very helpful to some players. Jimmy & Dragic looked November level healthy, and so did AD. None of these guys have been particularly durable in a normal season. And for some teams like Milwaukee where they were really only dominant at home, the bubble was a disaster.

The Lakers were vet laden and solid enough outside of Davis with Kuzma, Montrez, KCP, Schroeder, Morris, Matthews, Gasol, Drummond, THT, Caruso... younger Lebron would have had no issue getting that group, without Davis, past the Suns with a not 100% CP3, Booker, then Ayton, Bridges, Crowder and... Cam Johnson, Cam Payne, Kam-Insky (har har)...
The Lebron era may just have ended....
That era absolutely ended last night. LeBron is not done, but he is no longer superhuman.

AD wanted a big market, had never won heavily in the playoffs, got a chance to go to a franchise known for big men leading them to titles, had Rich Paul as his agent and Jrue Holiday was the previous best and most consistent teammate he had played with.
The top guys team want to acquire like Lillard, Beal, Leonard, are not interested in teaming up with him.
At some point the Laker will land another star because they always do, but that will likely be after the LeBron era.

Please for the love of god keep D’Antoni away from the Blazers. Or any intriguing team.

Not a fan? Or worried he might strike gold finally?
Personally, I'm the former... and want good things for the Portland crew.

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
So I am reading a story on Lebron and colour me shocked at the excuses...
"The one thing that bothers me more than anything is we never got to see our full team," James said, reflecting on the season and looking ahead. "Time to readjust and see what the offseason has in store," James said looking ahead.
Calling this season 'draining' after the short offseason, the four-time NBA Champion also admitted that his ankle 'never got back' to where it was prior to the injury.

Even Thibs' biggest fans on this board kept commenting about how the Knicks have very little talent, to the point that they had no business trying to compete with the Hawks. I can't see why anyone would want to go there to play with minimal talent for the guy who is only 2 years removed from this survey (April 2019):
Which coach, aside from your own, would you not want to play for? (52 votes)
Tom Thibodeau (34.6%)
Jim Boylen (21.1%)
Igor Kokoskov (11.5%)
Nate McMillan (5.7%)
Stan Van Gundy (4.8%)
Gregg Popovich (3.8%)

Someone might be interested in playing with 2 non all-stars since it's South Beach, but I just don't see it.
Of course I could be way off, we'll all know in about 2 months.

Not a fan would be an understatement. He’s legitimately bad for the entire sport. Thank god that Houston abomination is dismantled and the league has moved on a little despite still shooting high volume 3s. I don’t ever want to see D’Antoni in charge of any already-fun NBA team for the rest of my life.

Unfortunately, it's too late. 'Antoni's #1 minion is already running his "All Offense, Screw Defense" system in Brooklyn - that's who you really need to be rooting against right now. They aren't SSOL, but they might as well be.

I feel bad for all the great young coaches who should get a chance in the NBA but don’t get it because Jason Kidd keeps getting hired even though he’s been terrible in Brooklyn and Milwaukee. Just super annoying that being an all-time great point guard is enough to get him in the conversation every time.

MrSparkle wrote:Booker scored 70 points in a game. His fundamentals and moves are all a step above Zach’s. He does not rely on athleticism to get to the rim, and his shot selection is confident. He’s always been a talented scorer; now his defense and overall awareness has improved. Obviously CP3 and the rest of the pickups (Suns are actually a veteran-laden team) pushed them into #1 seed. I didn’t expect things to work as well; was shorting the Suns all season long cause I was annoyed they let down last year after the hot start. Part of me thinks they were due for (playoff) improvement with or without Paul; obviously they don’t knock Lebron out of round 1 without CP3 keeping pace.
Zach has some work in the awareness/off-ball department to catch up to Booker. I don’t think they’re on par. He has a good chance to work on it with Vuc though.
You replace Booker with LaVine and the Suns are right in the same place. They are still in the playoffs because of CP3. I don’t see any difference between Booker and LaVine. The 70 point game doesn’t really mean anything. Jordan’s career high is 69. Does that make Booker a better player? If everything lines up and the circumstances are right any prolific scorer can go off and score a lot of points in a given game.

LeBron once again didn’t shake hands and congratulate the Suns after their loss. Jordan always congratulated his opponents in defeat. Just shows how much of a Sore Loser LeBron is. Really an unlikeable athlete.

On the contrary, I think it's great for the nba. It's time they get used to the post-lebron era. I think fans are excited to watch the young players in the playoffs too. It's also good in that it strikes a small blow against the Lebron method of building a team by luring high priced FA's to form a super team. Although of course we now have the Nets employing that model and doing well.
I mean he’s probably going to just bring a bunch of elite players to the Lakers to round out the team.

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
Completely missed the report that Dame wants Kidd to be their next head coach. That's a big, fat yikes for the Blazers if true. I get moving on from Stotts, although I don't think you can blame him much, because you might want to try something new after a couple of years. But Kidd would be a significant downgrade.
