This is true. I don’t believe that Caleb alone could get this done. Ben Johnson’s conditions of employment could have cleansed this organization of its Bearsing ways to the point that the city and history by itself can sell to future hires without the franchise baggage interfering. Hope this works, because if it does, a template of functionality would finally be created.

Give the Bears some credit here. Part of the success has to be attributed to Ryan Poles as well. He has been far from perfect, but he's done a lot right, and when he's gone wrong, he's shown he can admit it, and make changes. I think that has to be part of what sold Ben Johnson on the Bears, and in the direction they are moving in. We have a decent well of talent on the team, a good cap situation, hopefully a star in the making at QB, and all of our draft picks.

It's not like Ben Johnson came in, made a few demands, and suddenly transformed the entire org.

Yeah, for any first-time head coach, it's pretty tough to predict whether it'll actually pan out, but it's highly refreshing to see the Bears want the most coveted guy, be aggressive, and do what it takes to get him.

And reports from guys like this. They had unreliable sources, and they took liberties with professional reporting at times

He already has connected to the building staff. And I also will run through a brick wall for that locker room!

yea.....yesterday morning, when I was googling Johnsons name every 5 minutes, I came across several headlines sayings "reports day johnson to raiders is done deal". The only one I bothered to click on was from sports illustrated and there was no report. just speculation. The TMZing of ESPN and the need to click bait for online engagement has made sports reporting almost impossible to follow.

I think Rich Eisen deserves a shoutout. It's not very often he "reports" on things but whenever he does, he's almost 100% right on the money. At the beginning of the season, he said that during the last coaching cycle he was hearing that Johnson wanted the bears job. He repeated that point a few times as the season went on. I think some of these reports and how things played out, confirm that Eisen was right on the money again.

If Thomas Brown is Thomas Brown still under contract with the Bears? If so, is there any chance that he’s retained in a different role…perhaps as a passing game coordinator or maybe even a de facto OC? I know there’s been talks of Allen as the DC and Rizzi was mentioned as a ST coordinator. But I figured I’d throw it out there.
Hes interviewing for OC jobs. I'd be shocked if he stays but would be happy. I think he was put in a bad spot way too soon.

Also it wucks how the Bears spend but don't know how to make good decisions historically, all other Chicago teams have competence but they cry poor whenever there is a mic in front of them.

Nothing about the Bulls is competent. Incompetence is why they are where they are 27 years since their last championship and nowhere even remotely close to being in the hunt for the next one.

White Sox are certainly not competent, in addition to of course being super cheap. This year the magic combo of cheapness mixed with ultra incompetence = 121 losses

Blackhawks lucked into a generational #1 pick and all they've managed to do to this point is ruin him.

Cubs are the only somewhat competent organization around here. But they too screw up plenty.

Rumor is the Hank Fraley will be the new OC.

Cons - Well, he isn't an OC (may not matter with BJ calling plays)

Pros - Lions are going to be PISSED losing their offensive line coach, and yeah....I expect the trenches to be rebuilt.

Hank Fraley would be another great hire.

His work with the o-line in Detroit has been great.
