When he said we were going to fill the rest of the roster with minimum contracts, Dunleavy was signed shortly after for the mmle. KC's tweet should be a separate thread celebrating Nate's re-signing. This is wonderful news.

to be fair, didn't he say that the bulls were expected not to use the MMLE? certainly it wasn't expected that someone of dunleavy's caliber would be available for the MMLE

Correct - his tweet was that the 'Bulls are not expected to use the full taxpayer exception'.

Its crazy how uninformed the Bulls beat writers are. I suspect that the FO tells them nothing and if they do hear something, they sit on it out of loyalty. it seems that guys like Bucher and Woj scoop the beat writers by having good contacts with the players and agents.

The only info the Bulls beat reporters get are "Hinrich will sit tonight with a pulled groin" or "Boozer has a twisted ankle and is a game-time decision."

I get more info reading RealGM than I do from Nick Friedell.

Atlanta will match Teague's offer.

To play for tanking Utah, crappy ass Toronto, or the elite Bulls with Rose and teammates he considers family.

His heart is in Chicago but if another team offers him more than the vet min he has to take it, can't blame him, it's a business.

And that hasn't happened yet.... not saying we're gonna get him, but .9% is more of an answer to say in June. Midway through July a lot of the teams that should have nabbed him have gone different directions.

How much do you guys think will be the difference in him staying or leaving to another team? Apples to apples and with the same $$ offer I think he stays, but how much more would tip the scales away from us?

Why is it taking so long for Nate to get signed?

He's 5'9". the league has totally trended away from uber small.

Surely he has some small offers on the table, but for it to not take so long, he has to say Yes. I'd also bet that he probably has three teams or so telling him - we'll make you an offer if Mo Williams turns us down. Mo is more complete.

Got it, maybe I am not dialed in all the way but I have not heard much about him being linked to teams...maybe other then the Knicks.

BTW, where can I find advanced stats on Nate and Kirk. I have a friend that is 100% sure that Nate is best thing since slice beard. I like Nate too, but I want to have some advance stats to share with him that will suggest it is not the end of the world if Nate is not brought back.

Nate had the second highest PER on the team last year. Kirk was near the bottom.

The advanced stats that make Nate look even with Kirk are based on adjusted plus minus stuff.

http://www.82games.com/1213/1213CHI.HTM

Nate 4th highest "simple rating". Kirk near the middle. A lot of people don't like these stats though.

Hypothetically, if this drags out and Nate doesn't get other offers and ends up signing with the Bulls for the minimum, I'd be a bit concerned that he would be a distraction over the course of the season. He plays with such a chip on his shoulder and I can only imagine what a bitter Nate would start doing on/off the court.

Why would Nate be bitter at Chicago if the Bulls were the only team that made him an offer? He might be even more aggressive in trying to punish other teams though. I doubt he would be an off court issue at all. Seems to be a good locker room guy and get along with everyone on the team.
