Thibs is horrible with rookies, give Dunn a chance before writing him off. Lavine is pretty good and Lauri could be great.

So happy we're not running out the same group as last year.

Jimmy had zero supporting cast. Asking him to will the team past the Celtics is too much.

I don't trust GarPax to build a contender, especially though a full rebuild process. At least with a star like Butler, they have a chance to attract free agents.

Do you really think that Hoiberg can unlock Dunn's potential? I don't. I liked LaVine, but he's damaged goods. Could still recover, but it's not a sure thing, and the Bulls have always been awful with injuries. Lauri seems more like he could be a bench warmer, from what I see, and I could be misreading it, the guy has massive holes in his game, and likely ends up having more of a Steve Novak-esque career than Dirk or Porzingis.

I expected him to not go 0-3 at home. Rondo was our best player? Soured me on him after that performance. And I've always been a huge Jimmy fan. But let's stop viewing him as an amazing late pick. He's gonna get paid and he'll never be on that level.

Jimmy is a scrapper, not a superstar. Talent level is subpar. His game will age poorly and he's already banged up. Can't get along with teammates and coaches. D dropped off as he focused on O.

Buy low, sell high. This team can shoot and will be fun!

Most nights of the season you just want to watch a good basketball game where your team has a fair chance to win. And be entertained for 2.5 hours. I'm not thinking about Banner #7 in the middle of some February mid-season game.

That nightly interest is pretty much gone, likely for several years. We are going to lose and lose a ton. And unless you have some young MJ type phenom doing amazing things to help stomach all those losses - and we don't - I find it hard to believe so many people are watching random game #25 of the season and thinking about how close their team is to a title regardless if they win or lose. Or that we somehow now have a 'path to a title' because of how hard we now stink, that make all the drubbings interesting.

They've just turned the nightly product to crap.

Deng, gone
Noah, gone
Taj, gone
Rose, gone
Butler, gone

GarPax, still here running the team into the ground. No accountability at all.
I'm not here to argue.

I dont remember one guy around the league who likes Gar Forman.

Gar has a way too big ego and with that he is ruining the organization from top to bottom. The guy is a snake. Read the article in my sig.

Paxson would have been the major decision maker in this trade with Reinsdorf loving that he doesn't have the possible $200 million dollar contract for Butler to worry about. Gar is currently changing out the urinal cakes in the United Center.

Nah, the Bears actually have shown some signs of taking actual gutsy moves to improve and set themselves up for a run. Might not fully pan out, but I'll give them a chance.

The Bulls panic traded their star player, had to throw in an extra draft pick as usual because every single team they deal(other than NYK) with soaks them on every transaction, have no direction for the future other than to draft big euro guys and trade for garbage point guards, and will be stuck on the treadmill for the next decade unless they luck into a player from Iowa State or New Mexico having top ten quality. Nope, I have no faith in the Bulls, their sub-par coach or their bottom of the barrel management team.

I'm glad we are moving on, but you are selling Butler way short. If we had two more guys on team at his level we would be right there with Cleveland.

Do want Wade to leave or stay? I don't think it matters overall, but are we better or worse without him? Could he be a good mentor for Dunn and Levine. Would even want to mentor them? I guess we will find out much he values his last big payday?

I still think there are enough zombies to fill that arena every night, at least for next season. I am really hoping they stink and attendance does dip. People moan fire GarPax and yes its needed but Reinsdorf needs to sell the team. He would replace them with more idiots and keep them in forever.

Man, I'm such a homer. 3 hours ago I was livid. Watched some Dunn and Levine highlights and I'm starting to come around.

We did in fact get two pretty elite athletes at guard, two very good to excellent shooters, and one likely very good and potentially elite defender among the three very young guys we got. In essence we got three mid lottery picks for Jimmy and #16. If it was the best they could get I can't blame them too much. I would not have made the trade but it's at keast a 30 or 40% chance that this ends up being better than not making it would have been. We also got more cap space and could clear more. I just wish I didn't find lavine so punchable. He's got talent but I don't like him.

We have 5 bigs we'll want to play. Someone's gotta go and it should be Lopez IMO.

This deal is about self-preservation from the front office's perspective. You can already hear the talking points being rolled out in the coming months. They'll sound something like: "Look, we had to get younger, and we got some really great pieces to build around. Was it a great trade? Well, you're going to have to give us at least 4-5 years become we can judge. So, everyone should stay patient and not judge." As usual, you can expect the Chicago media to carry water for them.

With this trade, GarPax will claim absolute immunity for any past failures and will claim any future losing cannot be attributable to them in any way because the core of the team is young. The usual suspects here and elsewhere will give credence to this nonsense (you know, the ones who argued we absolutely should have stood pat in 2011 because we had a long title window, argued not trading Asik, Gibson, Noah, Gasol was proper, argued that Hoiberg was a phenom of a basketball coach who would improve us over Thibs, argued that Valentine, McDermott, Mirotic, and many others were going to be huge contributors).

Anyone who has bet on the front office of the Chicago Bulls in the last 6 years has lost. They are a disaster. Even their most ardent backers here can only put up a tepid defense of them these days. Now, we are going to get 3 more seasons of losing before they are jettisoned and the franchise will be further away from the Jordan days, meaning less luster in the eyes of today's players. You'd think the Reinsdorfs, who are supposedly all about money, would understand that their equity in the Bulls will suffer MUCH more over time than any contracts of poor performing staff they'd have to pay out.

The irony of it all is that the Bulls have had COUNTLESS assets these last 15 years. When have they every completed a trade in the vein of what Minnesota did in acquiring Butler? That tells you all you need to know about the GarPax era. One Eastern Conference Finals appearance and a few playoff series wins in a decade when they've had numerous lottery picks, max cap space repeatedly, and multiple all-star players.

Return to Chicago Bulls
