Supposedly Cleveland wants to trade down. If they'd accept Coby and #18, I think at #14 one of M. Williams, Eason, and Duren would be available. Worth it?

Coby actually makes sense for them too, especially if they aren’t re-signing Sexton. They need to help alleviate offensive pressure from Garland.

It just depends who is there at 14 if it’s worth it to me. Tough to say until that night.

I think I would cheer the loudest if we ended up drafting Jaden Hardy. I think he would be what we all thought Coby would be, but better.

He’s unplayable with Zach and DDR due to D.

I like Hardy but he’s basically a poor man’s Lavine with no D.

If Eason Williams or Duren aren’t there I’d trade back and get two 1sts from MEN or Spurs. I’d go with Terry or Brown and then draft and stash Proceda.

Mathematically 14 should leave us 2 out of the 3 bigs this board seems to like most to select. The way I see it:

Definitely Gone Before #14
Jabari
Chet
Pablo
Sharpe
Murray
Ivey

Probably Gone Before #14
Griffin
Dyson
Branham
Davis

Of all available players, at least 3 of these players should be available at 14:

Duren
Williams
Eason
Mathurin
Sochan
Agbaji
Dieng

I think one of Duren, Williams, Eason, or Dieng will drop to us. If they do t you trade the pick or trade back.

If someone like Griffin or Dyson is sitting there, then it’s a no brainer to me, you jump up and grab them.

Then you’re kind of gambling on if they couple guys you like at 14 may still be there at 18.

There is no one on this board that has ragged on Coby in game threads more than me. I’ve despised the majority of his tenure here. But he had gotten better, is a hard worker, is only 22, and is an NBA player.

Series of recent 14 picks:

Moses Moody
Romeo Langford
Aaron Nesmith
MPJ
Bam Adebayo
Denzel Valentine
Cameron Payne
TJ Warren
Shabazz Muhamhed
John Henson
Marcus Morris
Patrick Patterson

I’m taking Coby and 18 over the majority of those guys I guess. Food for thought if nothing else.

I understand the sentiment but the talent has to fit together. Otherwise you will eventually just have a glut of mismatched players that you have to trade.

Eason and Dieng both on the board.

I’m awfully intrigued by Blake Wesley.

More than anyone in our range he just pops off the screen. Similar frame and athleticism to DeJounte Murray and Jaden Ivey (though Ivey is clearly the best vertical athlete of the three). Their freshman season stats are very, very similar. We’d be grabbing him a year before the leap.

We obviously need a combo guard like a hole in the head, and he isn’t a win-now guy. But this is the kind of upside swing I’m looking for. If that shot improves he’s a two-way monster.

Eason's talent pops. Get young Paul George vibes when I watched him play. But he will probably be gone by #18.

I see more like the Marcus Smart of 3/4s. Not pretty but impactful. His D will play day one. It will take him awhile to reduce turnovers and not force it.

I want Eason. High upside can probably give us a solid 15 minutes a night right away with his defense and finishing ability. I don’t want want any combo guards and don’t want Liddell.

Nobody said they were similar prospects. Your initial point was that he is undersized, these were names and data to prove to show otherwise. The comparison was size, not skill set.

Maybe just get Eason for the sole purpose of hanging out with Pat so some of that energizer bunny mindset hopefully rubs off on him.

Eason's out of control often, and with his tipsy-toe driving is the exact opposite of Giannis' continent-spanning steps, but dude seems to be going after it every second he's on the court. Hustle and energy is a skill set in its own right, Thibs used to say. Given that both Vuc and Pat have a lot of sloth in them, in terms of expending energy, it may not be a bad thing to have a kid like Eason to replace DJJ's minutes just to get some energy in the front-court. Eason's awkward enough that he may actually drop just based on style points and be there at 18, despite his per-minute stats in a pretty tough conference being quite eye-opening.

I want to acquire the talent first then worry about fit. I don't like to fixate on what a 19 year old can't do when he brings some advanced talent at that same tender age.

I'm more of a glass half full guy and I cringe every time I see fans focus on a negative outcome that may never happen.

100% with you. If Tari and Jalen Williams are gone, Wesley is my guy. I might even take him ahead of Williams at this point.
