I hope we address those problems this offseason. We've poured a lot of resources into the defense, and it's starting to pay off. Now we need to fix the offense.
Thats like half the offense.
I do agree the D looked good but it was against Dobbs. Dobbs is Dobbs.
It's got a long ways to go. Really it's just 4 players though- QB, WR, Center, Guard.

Re: Bears 2023 thread V
Here’s the thing. With the way our defense played tonight, there are very few QBs that couldn’t have won this game. They were lights out and this win is definitely more of a reflection of them than Fields.
With that said, I did like that little bit of dog that I saw in Justin on the last drive. It was the very type of situation that he has been criticized for not stepping up into and (at the very least) he did that tonight. Again, wins and losses are a team stat and the last 2 games serve as a perfect demonstration of that. Last week, Fields played well but we lost. This week, he had some critical 4th quarter mistakes but was able to come through in the end because the defense bailed him out.

Re: Bears 2023 thread V
Truly couldn't imagine a worse game as far as performance and outcome.
Vikes are a tough d. Fumbles removed, I still wasn't impressed nor satisfied with his production. He has to rise to the occasion against a great D at some point this season. Hasn't happened yet. He did okay, again fumbles removed. He did not rise above.
Add in the fumbles...the 4th quarter fumbles...why would a GM bet their future on someone who consistently does that? They wouldn’t...
And yet, we won. What a terrible night.
Even Flus had a great game. He needs to keep sucking. I don't want any chance of him coming back. Seriously, tonight was the worst.
The offensive playcalling. Serously...what is this stuff? Folks claim Getsy can't run his quick action offense due to Fields. And I won't deny Fields natural instinct is to let a play develop for a big shot. But if we can call 20 screens...why can't 7 of those be slants? I can't find the words for this...

To keep fans miserable? I'm not quite sure why, tbh...

But I believe you know better than that. We won THIS game because our defense stepped up in a big way. That’s major! Why? Because it’s starting to give us some type of an identity on one side of the football. That’s a good thing from a team perspective once folks can get their minds off the QB and look at things on a broader scale.

Re: Bears 2023 thread V
Justin has been killing my fantasy team for most of this season, being injured and going hot and cold. How much does getting the W move the needle for us? Is it possible that we could go on a little run and end the season at .500? That would mean missing out on MHJ, but it would also indicate continued steady improvement from Justin.

Tough to say. Sweat was definitely a factor tonight but there were lists of guys out there making plays in defense.

Not really, not in the sense that his career can feature this quality. ! throw, 13 points. Nah. It was a clutch throw though, that won an individual game. Feel good about that?
If he can build on it yeah. Getsy did nothing to open up the offense this game. He made a couple mistakes with the fumbles yes. But id like to just see the offense unlocked. Just let him sink or swim so we see exactly what we have.
we certainly can't bring back both fields and this coaching staff

This defense is an imprint of Flus. I want no parts of Flus as of this moment. Outside of liking the talent on that side of the ball, I dont care about that side of the ball. What they produce means nothing to me.

His talent jumps off the screen, hes the best player on this offense by multiple deviations.
This win was hilariously rough and no doubt he's not happy about the draft capital impact, but Mr Ryan Poles stock is trending upwards right now. Between Sweat's small sample size elite impact and the insane potential dividends that Panthers trade is proving to show (even though we did miss out on a potential generational QB, that is the hardest trick to pull off and the difference between bums and legends in the GM/coaching world). But the utter humiliation that Poles had put on him with the Claypool trade is looking a bit further away now that Sweat looks like the monster he has been in these few weeks.

Gabriel says no QB, No MHJ and no Harbaugh.
no way we pass on both harrison and a QB to trade down. poles has already shown he's feeling the pressure w/ the sweat trade
