sengun's offensive game entering the draft was so much more refined than queen's is

Some folks I'm looking at:
Brea
Pettiford (probably will be gone)
Kalkbrenner
Byrd
Tonje
Proctor

Sion James
Nate Bittle
Bogoljub Marković

I think Queen moves better than his combine numbers indicate. I'm still not a fan of him, but the defense can be fixed.

Don't do it.

Not really.

Not convinced you've watched Queen play.

This really is a deep draft. There's a number of guys I would be excited about. Even the next tier of guys that I'm less excited about is still pretty darn good. We are lucky we get Matas last year, because I didn't particularly feel strongly about last year's draft overall.

As a side note, I'm cooling on KJ. He just seems so similar to Coby that I just don't really see the point.

You can't look at KJ that way. Just keep saying "BPA is the only way!". Coby isn't good enough for anyone not to want to take anyone in the draft because of a fear of duplication. If nothing else, I could convince myself that if we draft a SG, we can turn around and trade Coby for positive value.

Queen, Coward, CMB, Maluach (unlikely he's an option anyway), or Jase.

I can see the hope that you are investing in Maluach, so I sorta get that, but Queen...I've just seen too many 6'9, bulky, ground-bound, college scorers wash out in the NBA against taller, stronger competition. Heck, give me Jase over Queen, at least a see an NBA architype there.

Coward, CMB I can see. I have Fleming and Bryant topping my list right now. I see more NBA skills that are usable there.

Queen and Coward easily the funniest NBA names since Dame Lillard.

For our #45 I would be pleased with :
Miles Byrd - SG 6'6
Hansen Yang - C 7'0
Rocco Zikarsky - C 7'4

sengun was a ridiculous shot-maker in a professional league. he made 68% of his 2pt attempts. queen made 56% his freshman year. i also think sengun was a stronger passer than queen is

this isn't saying queen doesn't have a very good offensive game, and it might ultimately be worth taking him at 12. but when you're talking about betting on a big man with less than ideal size/athleticism and major question marks on the defensive end, there's a meaningful difference in investing in a guy who's shown genuinely elite offensive traits and a guy who is impressively skilled but more good/great than off-the-charts

I think I'm just out on Queen. Would probably have him in the 20s. I just don't believe in his offense enough to justify the defense being what it is. If he's not elite offensively, I don't see how he's more than a backup. I get that you just bet on his offensive ceiling at some point, but I wouldn't be willing to do that in the lottery.

He has always fallen into the category of players who I want to see gone before the Bulls pick (kinda like Cody Williams last year). It sucks that he seems to be "falling" into the Bulls range. I just hope AK has seen enough of a team with zero rim protection.

Bulky and ground bound describes a fair many NBA stars/superstars.

He was the centerpiece of a top 5 lineup in college hoops.

And he was the second best freshmen in the nation after Flagg.

I can't think of a 6'10"/6'11" guy with more self-creating offensive game to come out of college in recent memory other than like Banchero.

I'm just not seeing these superior hub big prospects. Queen is about as good as it gets. Now if you simply don't want a hub big, then ok. But that doesn't really relate to Queen's talent as a prospect in that archetype.

who are the other hub bigs with even a remotely similar profile to queen who have come out of college and panned out at the nba level? the most recent example i could think of was sabonis nearly a decade ago, and he also was an appreciably better shot-maker than queen was as a prospect (although sabonis didn't play much his freshman year and came out as a sophomore)

it's just not a very common archetype, and even when those players do hit up to an all-star level, there can still be major questions about how much they contribute to winning / whether they place a cap on your ability to contend for a championship if they're a central part of your team

For The Queen Team…

Is the goal to make him the center of the offense? If so, what do we do with Giddey who is best with the ball as the offensive engine?

If Queen is the hub are you planning to tank and not resign Giddey and build around him?

Who do you out next to Queen to not have the best D in the league with Cody and Giddey?

The more I watch Fleming I see Naz Reid. Such similar body type and movement.

Don’t want Fleming at 12 but I do see a winning player just not a top 3 on a team winning player.

Coward, Queen, Gradey Dick, and Leaky Black can stand together in some jersey swap picture.
