Gonna take more than just Shumpert. They have no picks to deal(1sts I mean). The real question is... Can Philly sell that to their fans considered the injury plagued guys they already have and 23.4 mil is a lot to swallow when you are going to be bad for several seasons by design.
But honestly that 23.4 Mil from Amar'e doesn't prevent them from doing anything this upcoming season cause they were gonna suck anyway. And he comes off the books next year.
If you can get Shump and some draft picks, it may be worth it.
You are a rebuilding team, you need fully healthy players to at least make it look like you're trying.
Embiid is out for 8 months, Noel is a unknown, Young and MCW are the only truly proven assets and they need to win.
From what I see, Philly and the general NBA crowd likes what Sam Hinkie's been doing for the past 2 years now so I think they know he's trying. Plus, the players they have is a wait and see situation so there's nothing to gain this year. Might as well suck one more time.
But again, I wouldn't want Amar'e if I were the Sixers. Just saying I can understand that they'd be willing to do it. Much like how I was hoping we could get these guys involved in taking Boozer. For much of the same reasons.
