Whatever Jordan did to other teammates wasn't reported at the time, it's only years after they leaked it In stories and laughed about it

Jimmy understands the difference. He hasn't punched Doug in the head. Or thrown a ball into Noah's face.

And Michael didn't start winning until he grew as a leader, well that and he got more talent around him. He had to understand though that he couldn't yell at everyone all the time. Then, Scottie came in to balance the leadership out.

Seems that Jimmy must have worked things out. He said the team went hard in practice so I guess he did get his point across.

No, I don't, but the circumstances are different. I'm in the military, while Butler is in the NBA. And the report never said he cursed them out, it said he used profanity, so it could have been in the form of an adjective. Like, "We need to play f---ing harder!" NBA players swear all the time, so it's part of the culture. There are plenty of work situations though where people rub each other the wrong way or have disagreements, and they still do excellent work.

Michael Jordan used to tell his teammates that if they didn't give their all in practice then he would kick their ass. I'm sure that he cursed out Phil Jackson when Jackson told Steve Kerr to play tough defense on Jordan and didn't call any fouls. These guys spend a lot of time together and when losses happen certain outbursts are inevitable. It's not the end of the world.

Jordan was the best player in the game at the time. Jimmy got his ass kicked twice by George, Melo, and Lebron. Mj at 26 was destroying teams. Jimmy is an excellent player but he is just as easily traded.

Come on DSD --- there is no cause and effect there.

Thats like saying because I said tomorrow is Tuesday, it will be Tuesday.

We just lost 2 games and we need to right the ship - a hard practice was coming anyway.

Yes but it has to translate in better effort and more wins otherwise it may backfire

'Passive Rose' makes sense now, maybe he was trying to see if Jimmy could carry the team

When MJ punched Steve Kerr, he already had at least 3 rings (not sure what year he decked Kerr, so it might be more). Mike never changed. He didn't have to. When you have game like Mike's, the rest of team and the coaches and the FO come to you. Hell, they gave Mike special rules on the Dream Team -- permitted to play 36 holes on game day.

Holy tweet spam from K.J. Johnson this morning.

#Butler walks right off the court after shootaround, says doesn't regret what he said. Says he has to lead better. Says raw emotion.

#Butler: "I know we have what it takes to win here."

#Butler said he had "good talk" with Hoiberg. Said some people may like his leadership style and some may not.

#Butler said Hoiberg addressed the issue in front of the team. "You can't hide the elephant in the room. Today was a good day."

#Butler on Hoiberg: "He doesn't have to change who he is as a person."

#Butler said he's learning to be a leader. Said this is first team he's tried to be a leader on.

#Players very rarely speak first at shootaround. Coaches almost always do. Butler beelined right to group of reporters.

#Very strong media session from Butler. Only 2 eyebrow raisers: Claimed wasn't calling out Hoiberg. Said teammates accepting his leadership.

#Hoiberg said there are things he can do better, that players can do better. Met with Butler for hour Sunday. Said he wasn't hurt by comments.

#Hoiberg said he can demand more from players. Said this is opportunity for growth as team.

#Hoiberg: "I know how passionate Jimmy Butler is. I think he has the tools to be a good leader."

#Hoiberg:"I know emotions are part of this game. I was in it as a player for 10 years. I saw it in a front office. We learn from the comments"

#Hoiberg defending his style: "Look, there are plenty of times in this gym behind closed doors where we have some pretty heated talks."

#Hoiberg said he thinks Butler's leadership style can work: "And I know Jimmy had some good talks with some of the leaders on this team."

#Butler on Hoiberg in team meeting: "In that meeting he said that he does have to hold everybody accountable. I have to help him with that."

#Butler: "People want me to lead. You take my leadership for what it is. Some people may like it, some people don’t."

#Butler: "I was never calling out my coach. I think he’s a hell of a coach. I think he’s done great through these 25 games."

#Butler: "I know every play at every position. I study the playbook like that. I gotta let players know what they're supposed to be doing."

(my comment: shouldn't all the players already know what they are supposed to be doing? And it's the PG who is supposed to organize the team on the floor, isn't it?)

#Butler: "Now that we've addressed it, everybody knows what they have to do. Before, everybody was maybe going through the motions."

#Butler on if he accepts Hoiberg's O: "I have to be because he signed here for 5 years. I signed here for 5 years. We have to make it work."

#Butler: "I had more things to say to people individually. Fred did the majority of talking when we were in the film room."

#Butler: "I explained my opinion and what I'm gonna do to change things here. Everybody accepted what I had to say."

K.C.'s last tweet:

#Will say this about Butler: He's trying to will himself to become leader through work ethic, media comments.

WOW. Butler is standing behind his comments 100%.

Got the message loud and clear my arse, Musiq. He pretty much said "tough ti****" if you don't like how I did it.

Butler just threw the gauntlet down, lets see how the team responds.

If Butler knows all the plays and wants to followed why the F does he break up the plays with his isolation play?

Butler said he signed here for 5 years, and yeah unless the team decides to try and trade him, he's right, he's going to outlast Rose, outlast Noah, outlast Pau, outlast probably all these guys. Except maybe the kids who are no threat to his status.

So right now, he's on some pretty solid footing with his leverage.

He called out the entire team of course.

That one line is just PC media speak to not make it look as bad, you're wise enough to know this.

His whole press conference was one big, "Sorry, not sorry."

There was no taking back the comments, no "I messed up". No humbling even. All he did was try to smooth over the ruffled feathers. The takeover plan is still in effect.

Jimmy is the captain now. Fred better man the helm or he might just be along for the ride.

Even though I strongly disagree with him calling out his coach in the manner he did -- I will say if he wants to hold his team mates accountable when they give lack of effort, I'm down for that.

You need your top guy to maintain a standard in terms of effort that every one else must live up to. If they don't, they should get called out.

By why in the world would he call out Hoiberg in public? I think it was incredibly harmful and he should have said it to his face. I think its poor leadership on Butler's part.

Every single player on our team should be available in trade talks.

I dont understand why you are so steadfast on trying to show that Butler was right in doing this.

This isnt like Rose - where his bad play makes him hard to trade.

Jimmy is an easy contract to trade and we can get good value our of it as well. If he keeps up with "talking ti***".

Fred Hoiberg called Jimmy :

1) A good leader
2) One of the leaders

That there is how you are taught to get in line.
