Very good pick by the Bulls. Looks like a stud rim protector. The offense will come with time. Great compliment to Lauri.

GimmeDat wrote:Carter is a stud. I'm 100% happy with the selection. We're going to be in for a fun year between he and Lauri in the front-court.
I wasn't concerned about him laterally or rim protection wise, but I thought he'd be a bit more average than he's showing so far. He's clearly fine moving his feet, I think the additionally weight loss has helped, and he is absolutely killing guys at the rim with some insane blocks. He's less of a 'average to good' defender like his perception was and more of a 'great to stud' from early returns. Offensively he's as advertised, plays within the flow of the offense, really has little limitations when it comes to his skill-set, and athletically is popping a bit more than in college like so many of these rookies are in SL.
Yes and lets not forget that this kid just turned 19 last April.
Also whats with this narrative that some keep bringing up him that he has lost weight? I havent read anything about it in anywhere? Is this a fact or just people making up stuff and make it a reality? He has been around 250lbs and as far as i know he still is around that.

Tanking is so last season.

I personally hate the concept because it basically makes most of the time a complete waste but there is clearly a case to be made that if you dont have a true superstar you have no chance of winning a title. With our record in free agency the draft is the only way thats happening. So WJC or LM better be that guy or we back to square one.
I'd rather watch good basketball and just hope it works out.

Our bigs are going to have to work on their ball handling and take guys of the dribble cause our guards are doing them no favors.
The long run will make them more versatile so I'm happy about that.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.
NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Summer league isn’t really good for bigs as the guards take over and they usually aren’t good enough to get the bigs involved. Case in point Blakeney. Once we get to the regular season and have Val, Dunn and Zach they all are good enough to get our bigs involved.

I like optimism. But you asking for a miracle. If there is guy who loves more to hunt shots than Blakeney is Zach. And he just got 80M permission to do it.

Zach can pass the ball 1,000 times better than Blakeney. Zach is indeed a scorer but to compare him and Blakeney is laughable TBH.

Zach, Kilpatrick, and Blakeney are all applying for the same job of low-defense, scoring wing. Zach is of course the best of the three and will easily win that contest. I assume that Kilpatrick gets the second spot and Blakeney gets cut (or sent back to Windy City).

It’s hard to have a conversation when Zach is lumped in the same breath as Kilpatrick who was on 4 teams in one year and Blakeney who is a G league player.

According to some Bulls reporters Fred Hoiberg is modifying his play book to emphasis Markkanen as the number one option. If that is the case then the bigs will be featured in the offense during the season, which imo is a good thing. Carter and Markkanen will in theory help Lavin to be a more proficient scorer.

That report is true. They did not think Lauri was this good. He’s being featured in the offense. My guess is Zach and him are the one two punch.

Re: Bulls select Wendell Carter Jr 7th overall - Merged
If he can impact actual NBA games with footwork, rim protection, and floor game like he has so far in SL, then he’ll be the best fit for this Bulls team among all the bigs at the top of this draft class.
With all the ball hungry guys on the roster (Dunn, Payne, Val, LaVine, Hutch, Lauri, Portis), it’s good to have a guy who can impact with low usage.

Zach is a very poor distributor of the ball. The only time he was given even a remote responsibility to create offense for others he turned it over about as often as he got an assist. Literally.

Well its not actually hard, atm how it is that Blakeney is a Summer/G-league version of Zach and Sean played in the Bulls better than Zach in the same role. All of them are/were highvolume chuckers with horse blinders.

While I agree with you, that comes across as hateful because Kilpatrick is a 10th man and Zach is a borderline starter/sixth man type. Are both Sean and Zach chuckers with horse blinders? Yes. But that's where the comparison ends.

Being hateful wasnt my intention as i still have faith for Zach for come around his most of his deficiencies and i hope he realises that he isnt the godgiven option one in the team.
But the fact is that stat wise Sean was a little better player for the team than Zach, both shooting like there is no tomorrow Sean with the edge hittin more them in the bucket. Ill give that Zach had more assists but he also played with better players around him.
