Wow on paper I can make the mavs look like the better team.
Dallas center > Batum
Porzingis > Morris
Smith < Kawhi
Hardaway > Jackson
Luka > George
Mavs take 4/5 matchups

I can imagine him on the Bulls team. That would work for me.

The Around The NBA Thread
Second best Mav has been DFS by far. Nobody else showed up. Too bad.
Dallas has to have a big offseason to get Doncic some help. Try everything to dump Porzingis, find some rim protection (or playable centers in general) and, most importantly, find another guy who can create offense. Watching Hardaway or Porzingis dribble gives me anxiety.

1. Curry < Young

Basically 76ers can have the FC advantage and win 3/5 matchups
Stockton > Harper
Hornacek < Jordan
Russell < Pippen
Malone > Rodman
Ostertag > Longley
3/5 for Utah, they got this for sure.

Dang it. An LA team will still exist in the playoffs.

on the other hand, that hawks run in the first half and subsequent comeback is evidence that the sixers can take a punch. better to suffer an unexpected knockdown early in the fight/series.

It's going to be interesting how Cuban can add a star, they owe the Knicks 2 1st round picks and can't trade the middle 1st rounder. They can offer 2025 & 2027, but that's fairly far away and likely to be pretty poor picks if Dallas gets their star in return.

Cuban has plenty of time though. Luka is only in year 3 and has plenty of cap space to work with.
They way I look at it, Luka is yet to play with other exceptional players. Its the same roster other than KP when you think about it.
KP was supposed to be the BIG GET when they made that deal 2 years ago. But he has always been injured and only solid as a player. Like a 7'3 version of Lauri that makes 30+ mil a year.
I do think they will pick up some decent players in the offseason but they wont get serious until they flip KP for another star. I dont think there is much chemistry between Luka and KP.

You would think that Dallas would be a lot more attractive to FA's than they are.
Team owner willing to spend. Steady coaching staff. Steady FO.
But they almost never draw interest from top stars.

How many times have they “struck out” a la GarPax? I honestly have no idea.
My perhaps inaccurate perception is that they’re so regularly active, they’re often historically going out and getting guys via trade vs being patient enough to play the big FA game.
I also wonder how Luka will do with another star. Everyone assumes magic given his current play, but who knows what that chemistry will look like with Luka so ball-dominant. While I think he’s too good, and too smart not to figure it out - it could be a process, and maybe never end up being what it looks like on paper.

I don't think anyone is going to force their way to LA. AD has injury issues and LeBron has father time creeping up on him.
I could see someone forcing their way to the Knicks or Heat.
Also tends to be very buddy buddy based, and Lebron isn't friends with a lot of the current generation of stars. It was interesting he got AD to buy in, but it's not like AD was best friends with anyone in New Orleans either.
I’m with jc23. Maybe not that fast, but way sooner than anyone would think. It would be less about Lebron, and more about new star making the Lakers their own team. They know Gramps Lebron is fading...but they could compete with him, and then be the man to carry on the legacy.

The bolded is now a huge urban legend - since the Mavs won the title in 2011, Cuban has paid LESS luxury tax than Reinsdorf. As soon as they won a title, he quit spending, plain and simple.
And in the 10 years since winning the title, they've missed the playoffs 5 times, and lost in the first round 5 times. Superstars aren't generally looking to go to a situation like that.

Its mean to say but i feel AD is a guy who can be easily manipulated. Good points about lebrons close circle getting older. Also a star seeing the possibility of using lebron as a means to an end the same way lebron use to use his past teammates.
I wonder what his last contract will look like in regards to lebron. He wants to go into retirement with as much money as possible to buy a team so im sure he will look for a kobe type contract.

Why would anyone think players will flock to the Lakers?
Look at their record from the 2014-19 seasons - 6 years - nobody cared to sign there.
