Ya that extension we denied for CJ Watson was for 5 mil.

Then he was mad we didn't pick up his option/mad we offered him the minimum, thought he was worth more, then learned tha he was just a min player.

Not quite...CJ was denied a contract extension for 3.2 mil not 5 mil. and he was simply passed over for Hinrich and his 4 mil

why so cj can choke and get his a** lit up again like he does every postseason no F'n thanyou man. Cj is not good in the playoffs, he makes terrible decisions and gets lit up every year by somebody. In that philly series Jrue holliday and Lou williams made cj their girl. In the brooklyn series vs us he did nonthing but piss nate off and got his a** busted again. Meanwhile hinrich was hounding williams while adding some scoring and running the team like a boss. I have nonthing against cj he did his thing for the bulls during the REGULAR SEASON when he was here but Kirk comes to play in the PLAYOFFS and vs GOOD PLAYER/TEAMS. Switch hinrich onto the Nets and Cj onto the bulls that series and we wouldve probaly got swept or won 1 game, 2 at the maximum

Dahntay Jones doesn't make anyone expendable. He's a camp invite. If the Bulls wanted to rid themselves of Kirk they'd have Teague and MDJ/Snell to fill the void.

Well, allow me to put it another way... Time to get rid of Kirk! Dude is too old and too broken to last another season. If Thibs is still unsure about the maturation of Marquis Teague then D.Jones would fill the void. I'm hopeful that Snell will see enough playing time to get comfortable playing in the league, but he's a SG and SF not a PG/SG. Either way Kirk is not the answer.

WTF
IN what universe is Jones a pg. He is a 2/3. He is an inconsistent shooter. Kirk is and has always been a better and more versatile player.

So it only saved the Bulls .8 million.

Also, I am of the opinion that Kirk Hinrich is better than CJ Watson. Therefore, deserving of a higher salary.

We all have our opinions, and I respect yours, But! CJ Watson was ball'n when he played for the Bulls imo. He ran that bench mob like a true pro.
Where was Kirk Hinrich in the playoffs? Mainly sitting on the bench while watching a player that the Bulls signed to a temp contract outplay him at the same position. Nate Robinson scored 34 pts against Brooklyn, not Kirk Hinrich. Good Old often injured Capt'n Kirk was broken down and couldn't last past the next round to face the Heat. Kirk was a very good player for the Bulls back in 2004, but it's 10 years later, and it's time to move on without him and allow Marquis Teague to develop into the lineup imo. A 10 yr PG in the NBA is like a 20 yr Center. They get too slow to hang w/ the newbreeds. Add to that is Kirk's injury history which tells me that he is no longer built to last an 82 regular season plus the playoffs. See last season.

Yes, lets forget Kirk in the Brooklyn series despite playing great defense on Williams and running the team well.

He got hurt in that series as he was forced to play 40+ minutes in one game. He accepted it, gritted his teeth and got us the win, along with his teammates.

In Game 4, when Nate when off for 34, Kirk had 18 & 14 himself and posted 11 points and 6 assists for the series.

He played well.

Meanwhile, in Game 4, CJ Watson blows a dunk that likely levels the series for the Nets. Instead, Nate goes ham and we go up 3-1.

Nate alone didn't get it done for us that series. It was a collective effort, Kirk included.

Once Kirk Hinrich left the Chicago Bulls he was as wanted as a counterfeit dollar bill. Thus his return to the Bulls. Kirk does play well, but what does he do that Marquis Teague couldn't do if given the same opportunity Kirk has been given?
It's time to move on from Kirk. Derrick Rose is back, while Jimmy Butler is the SG. Hopefully, Marquis Teague will work out and run the bench mob. Or, they can trade Teague, play Hinrich and watch Hinrich go thru another injury plagued season. Maybe we'll get a chance to see him tackle Lebron James again. Then it's off to the hospital ward for rest and rehab. Go Capt'n Crutches!
A good post on Capt'n Crutches

While I'm optimistic and hopeful on Teauge's improvements, he hasn't proved that he can do anything that Kirk actually CAN do. Like you know, run the offense. Defend both guard positions. Play both PG and SG and let's not forget Kirk is a threat from behind the arc.

And moving to the bench he becomes a productive role player for this team.

I guess the Hawks gave up a 1st round draft pick for **** and giggles to get Kirk on their team. And the Bucks offered more money, but Hinrich choose to come back because he was familiar with the organization and he wanted to compete for a title. The trashing of Hinrich on this board is ridiculous at times.

lol, what?? I hope you're kidding. The gap between Hinrich and Teague is still pretty large, despite summer league fever. I sometimes worry that people who post here don't watch the games, but I have to remind myself that everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter how misguided.

Personally I thought that Kirk did an amazing job running the team last year. And with a reduced role coming off the bench, hopefully he can stay healthy.

Actually, he turned down more money from the Bucks, and possibly other teams, to return to the Bulls. What are you talking about? Just making up stuff?

Kirk does play well, but what does he do that Marquis Teague couldn't do if given the same opportunity Kirk has been given?

Knock downthe three ball, run the offense without being jittery, and the ability to defend both guard spots. Again, I'm not knocking Teague here as I've actually been pretty vocal in my support of him. But to say a second year player coming off a redshirt season with a shaky jumper and lacking confidence (based on his play last year) can do everything a ten-year vet like Kirk can and more is just dumb. What is it based on?

It's time to move on from Kirk.

Why are you so wound up over a role player? You act like his presence is holding us back from something...

Agree to this

Strained groin, strained hip, bum thumb, sore knee, sprained left elbow, cut/infected right elbow, sore toe and falling down an abandoned well. Those are the myriad maladies that have befallen Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich in a rather bizarre year that has already forced him out of 16 games during this 2012-13 season.

I wouldn't call what he did amazing. I'd give more credit to Nate Robinson, and Marco Belinelli. They were offensive saviors when the Bulls needed clutch shots and much needed offensive production. Kirk was there though. Often he was sitting on the bench injured, but he was there.

Naw It's all jokes ova here. I find it hilarious  how a player who missed 1/3 of the season due to injuries, and averaged 7 ppg & 5 apg as the starting PG could be so admired by a Bulls fans. While his backup averaged 13.5 ppg & 4 apg while exciting the crowd and durable enough to last thru the 2nd round of the playoffs.
That's like bringing Lebron James off the bench for Michael Beasley.

Being exciting and being healthier has no relation to on-court ability.
PPG isn't the best measure of a player's worth either.
