The Bulls would want to put Taj in the deal to unload some salary.

If I was these guys I would try my hardest to go to the Leastern Conference though

i agree 100%. had Rose been healthy this season melo and love would both be clawing their way to get here.

Not sure how much Love on the warriors makes them better though, they already have a potent offense.

But hey atleast the guy would finally make the playoffs and i have wanted to see what Love can do in the post season for a long time now.

At the very least this summer is going to be exciting if your a Bulls fan.

I agree with Niko. He can be special. As for Melo, his game is what we need. He can score in many ways and allow the Bulls to play small ball.

I'd be really happy with either player though.

If niko is amenable then we have a strong package
We have expiring , picks and maybe niko
We also have butler which min need wing defense

I would love to keep taj, but when Kevin and Jo are both playing 38+ minutes a game in the playoffs Taj would be the odd man out.

Which is why the melo to chicago move makes more immediate sense. But Love is so much younger.

Melo taking a ridiculous pay cut isn't so ridiculous anymore.

BTW I have always been impressed with Sam Mitchell. Good possible choice for the Wolves. I don't see him having any effect on Love, but good choice, as good as they will find who wants to go there.

The timing of all of this will be interesting. Love will be decided before July 1. Melo will be decided after July 1.

The phrase "beggars can't be choosers" comes to mind here. There are going to be lots of teams pursuing both of these guys. There is a very good chance the Bulls could get neither of them, even if both change teams.

The Bulls can't afford to be coy. They need to go all in on Love and if that doesn't work, go all in on Melo. They can't try to ride both tracks because if they do, they will end up with neither, IMHO. If the Bulls get one of them for something reasonable, we should all fee very happy.

Edit add: What I meant by that is trying to hold back assets from Minnesota on Love in the hopes of using them for Melo. Getting both is possible and a fantastic thought but would be a super expensive team and highly unlikely.

Bulls need to get both! There's got to be a way. Free up enough capspace for Carmelo, then sign and trade with Minn to get Love using Mirotic and draft picks.

-Amnesty Boozer
-Trade Gibson, Dunleavy to Charlotte for a 1st round pick
- Sign Carmelo to max money

- Trade Mirotic + both 1st round picks this year + Charlotte pick (from trading Taj) + whatever fillers are necessary for Kevin Love

Rose
Butler
Melo
Love
Noah

I'd guess that Love would reach out to Rose since they know each other... Melo, I don't know. Rose still seems naive to this whole thing though, so I don't expect him to reach out at all.

That's the advantage with Love, he's going to be great from beginning to the end of his contract, almost no risk unless he has a catastrophic injury. Melo, not so sure towards the end. I'll say this though, if it is possible to keep Taj and still bring in Melo, I may prefer that route, but I just don't think that's possible. Also, 3 and D wings are easier and cheaper to find to surround Rose/Love/Noah, than finding a legit starting big man to put in Rose/Melo/Noah. Dammit, It's going to suck when we end up with neither now.

If that's the case both Melo and Love have to play hard ball and say its Chicago only. You could do both. Rose goes in hard on Love and Noah handles Melo.

I think Melo makes us better. Love is a better long term move though.

If its possible to acquire both, im sure they would both look at the potential of not only playing with the Bulls now but alongside each other as well. Big 3 forming?
