Normally I would agree, but in this day & age where Tyler Johnson gets $50M long term, I'd say locking in a rookie to a 2nd rounder scale for multiple years might be a good GM move.

If there's a non-zero chance that Zipser could play at Covington's level, I'd say go ahead and lock him in for a few years by guaranteeing 2.
