Well, I'm not surprised for him to be indicating "the disconnect" is real because I've always thought that Reggie is the one who spread that rumor. Possibly after hearing Melo was a long-shot to sign with the Bulls so that it wouldn't look as though DROSE failed at recruiting. I think Derrick knew what was up though.

If there is a disconnect with management, however, not sure why Reggie would be well tuned in on the status of Melo.

It's not about believing Reggie, he's probably correct. The thing is, this is nothing new between players and management. Shaq hated Lakers management, MJ, Pip and Phil all hated Bulls management. Doesn't really mean anything when it's time to take the court.

But what exactly has Bulls management done to Derrick other than annoint him as the city's own and showered him with generational wealth.

What exactly has the Bulls FO done to irk his camp so much?
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

edit 7/30/21: okay maybe not, but it was a fun ride nonetheless

It was always ny first. He forced a trade there. Chicago second. This Miami thing is foolhardy and just wanting to get hits. The spurs may have killed Miami in more than one way.

I believe the Spurs' performance in the finals may have ruined the Heat. That was an absolute extermination.

It was and they realistically could have beat them the year before but not that easily.

I love how the Melo speculation threads have accumulated close to 20,000 posts, and the Melo thread that contains concrete updates has accumulated...

...EIGHT!

As in eight total posts! Talk about Cliff Notes!

So we're just going to believe that Reggie spilled the beans to this random dude? I'm sure they're very close. I can tell by the way he immediately puts words into Reggie's mouth, about stuff that would be considered a betrayal of trust.

so like if anyone stopped on the street to talk to reggie rose he'd be like 'man i don't think we're going to get melo and i really hate garpax'

how is this a man with significant sway over an nba superstar

This would be an entirely different scenario IMO. How much attention was the national media paying to the Nets right before the Kidd departure? Next to none. Everything was about the draft and impending free agency. How much attention is the national media paying to the Melo situation? A lot. Not 100% undivided attention, but a lot. I'm gonna guess it's a bit different to beat all the big dogs to the story when they're actively following the situation 24/7.

Who knows. Maybe the same things they've done to irk Thibs? None of us knows what goes on behind the scenes. Point is, if Shaq and Kobe and MJ and Pip and Phil can deal with poor relationships with management and still have Hall of Fame careers and deliver championships, then let's not panic over Team Rose's supposed rift with management.

Not sure how 'Carl from state farm' deal can work. USA today says Knicks committed salary before Melo is $59. http://hoopshype.com/salaries/new_york.htm

That's about 4m under. But w Melo at 22, they're 18 over (and iirc. His cap hold is higher than 22). Dealng Amare frees up 23, putting them 5 under. That ain't lebron.

I suppose could trade amare for TPE and use that to deal for Bron, but anyone thnk Riles is making that move when the threat is Bron signing for 5?

He's being vague but implying things about Melo and a person who wears #16, but apparently the deal is so volatile that a hack GM could come in and ruin the deal! But since the information leaked here, in an effort to keep us from leaking it to various hack GMs, he said that we've actually won the Melo sweepstakes.

I'm going with Bawl > Carl.
