He didn't. He just doesn't source things and a lot of times his interpretation of it sucks.

Every source I've seen reporting the $15MM offer has been out of NYC. That doesn't mean they are necessarily wrong, but it does seem a peculiar coincidence.

Surely they'd turn their attention to Kevin Love first?

Not first. First they'd turn their attention to pissing me off.

If the Bulls had a trade lined up to dump Taj for capspace, do you think they would advertise it publicly? Hells no.

Do you think they would make it clear that it was in the deck to Melo's agents? Hell yeah

....

I really think you are overestimating the team left in the capspace scenario. Its really bad in that you don't have a starting PF . . . like, at all. If you openly present that situation to Melo and tell him to take $30M less to join that team, is it really going to be a positive?

Think about it as a non Bulls fan:
Rose -> Injury risk
Butler -> Meh
....
.....
Noah

With some picks and rookies to fill in at some point in the future.

Explaining the whole "dump Taj for capspace" thing in detail was not a winning hand and not a balance.

The winning hand was always the sign and trade based teams. Melo gets his money to go onto a team that can immediately contend. That's effectively what Chicago presented (to the best of my knowledge).

So wait. Under your scenario Taj is the difference between contending and being real bad? Wow. Talk about overvaluing a player.

Melo will be a Bull

I want this to happen if only so you can stick it to your haters on the knicks board, lol.

85% of them don't want him back anyway

They wanna tank for a top 5 pick

Not realizing we just had the 5th overall pick of the 2005 Draft on our team

Seriously, we have to figure out how to convince Miami Taj is that good. Lebron for Taj, straight up

It's right. He says it right here:

Joakim Noah, intimately involved in the Bulls' pitch to Anthony, has told several people he believes Anthony will re-sign with the Knicks.

Dont really want Mirotic. Would prefer McDermott. MDJ is gett old. Snell is a bum. At best an average 3 d player.

Thats a pretty terrible offer honestly. I think Bulls fans think they will sign him outright which isnt going to happen.

But thanks for being the only person to actually answer my question.

Wow he only gave you one first rounder? Lol
I thought itd be more like this:

Boozer
2015 1st (and 2nd?)
2017 1st (and 2nd?)
SAC pick
Snell
Mirotic or mcdermott (not both)
And mdj

Id accept that deal. Whether or not it was Mirotic or Mcdermott. But i would prefer MCD. And if i had to take Mirotic, i would want Bairstow in the deal. Or maybe just ask for him in general, idk what his value is.

had you asked me this before the draft I would've thrown in those 2 picks and kept mirotic but now that there's a. name attached and we traded up for the guy I wanted I don't want to give him up :( but in the long run i'd be ok with giving him up if we REALLY had to.

From what I've read Bairstow is a pretty physical big who has some post moves and can hit the mid-range jumper fairly well. That's pretty much all I know about him and would happily throw him in the deal to if necessary

Knicks also have the #1 overall pick of the 2006 Draft in Bargnani.

Alright, I've officially started to back away from this. Now whatever positive news (if any) will be taken as just nothing.

I don't feel he really played us like lecramp, but in the end, seems like it was all for the money.
Kris Bryant will go down as the greatest Chicago athlete after MJ

edit 7/30/21: okay maybe not, but it was a fun ride nonetheless
