Melo may choose New York at the end of the day, but his hesitance to just take that super max deal is interesting. He seems really conflicted, which is good for us.

I am serious. Jo gives no **** about non teammates.

I agree. Not saying the report was true, but its plausible.

As for the rest, if Melo is talking Pau into going to NY its a wrap. Time to move on. Get me some LOVE!!!!!

i must say if anybody was to tell bulls fans so, it would be Jo, hes a down to earth people person, i went to many bulls heat games, and always stood at the bus, at the end of the game, i called every person, on the bulls team, nocioni, gordon, kirk, long 2 lu, and Jo is the only one that stops and waves high with a smile every time, he really is a decent human being, so i can buy that he shared the sad news to fellow fans, because Jo is a player/fan of the Bulls hes just as big of a fan as we are.

It's a simple message, but the money we had to offer was just too low. A four year max deal and a team of Rose/Butler/Mirotic (maybe)/Noah was an excellent balance of money going his way, along with the potential to win. I think that was the sweet spot.

If the Bulls had a trade lined up to dump Taj for capspace, do you think they would advertise it publicly? Hells no.

Do you think they would make it clear that it was in the deck to Melo's agents? Hell yeah

....

I really think you are overestimating the team left in the capspace scenario. Its really bad in that you don't have a starting PF . . . like, at all. If you openly present that situation to Melo and tell him to take $30M less to join that team, is it really going to be a positive?

Think about it as a non Bulls fan:
Rose -> Injury risk
Butler -> Meh
....
.....
Noah

With some picks and rookies to fill in at some point in the future.

Explaining the whole "dump Taj for capspace" thing in detail was not a winning hand and not a balance.

The winning hand was always the sign and trade based teams. Melo gets his money to go onto a team that can immediately contend. That's effectively what Chicago presented (to the best of my knowledge).

So wait. Under your scenario Taj is the difference between contending and being real bad? Wow. Talk about overvaluing a player.

Lol.

What I am saying is that a team without a PF cannot win a title. That would be the capspace scenario. And let's not forget, with a sign and trade they also get the MLE.

I'm sure the Bulls could eventually get a replacement for Taj but why would Melo come to Chicago and have to wait for a year for that to happen? He can do that in NY for the extra $30M.

Its really unprofessional of KC to write that up based on an internet rumor. If he didnt get solid confirmation on that he should lose his damn job.

So Jo was running around LAX telling everyone Melo's going back to NY

I have a theory on how the Bulls presentation went and why Taj was involved.

Joakim demands Taj be at the meeting and also demands Taj not be traded. Joakim uses this fact to explain to Melo "look at how much of a family we are here...etc etc." Gives Melo an ultimatum. Join us for what we can offer, while we keep Taj and Jimmy, or don't come at all.

If Melo really wants to win and be on a contending team, he definitely should consider LeBron's process in 2010. LeBron didn't get a max contract from the Heat, but he was paid decently and won 2 championships. From 2010-2014, I'm sure LeBron got bank from Nike, Samsung, bonuses (idk), and etcetera in addition to his contract pay. I would think Melo knows he's a good fit and has to sacrifice and take a pay cut for a legit chance to win. If he wants max money, whatever team he'll end up on will probably be gutted and will be in cap hell. Thus, whatever team offers him the max won't be able to fill the roster with quality role players, which is important. Quality role players are crucial, look at the Spurs (Mills/Diaw etc.) this year and the Heat (Allen/Battier etc.) when they won those two years. Money will come if Melo decides to come here. He has to financially think beyond his contract as there's a lot of money to be made by Jordan brand, sponsorships, and bonuses I would assume.

Here we go.

This is the last Melo to Chicago thread I hope then.

(Actually I hope this report is completely wrong - or Noah was just messing with that cousin of that dude).

My head is spinning right now reading every single page for last 2-3 hours.

Really? Boozer got skewered for not giving effort as a Bull (and rightfully so). Have you watched Melo play? The only reason we want him is for his scoring. I'm just saying that I look at Taj, Noah, Butler and Rose and I see flat out effort guys. 4th quarter comebacks, diving for balls. That's just not Melo. Never has been.

What does that have to do with blue collar city grimy win or die? None of that crap exists. It's like "baseball aura" or "the will to win". They're not real things.

Thibs coaches the team based on his personnel. If Melo were in Chicago, he'd fit in fantastically because Thibs is a genius. That's all that matters.

Whether or not they're as "real" as a physical thing like a toilet seat, just doesn't matter.

Chicago is a blue collar city. A football city.

Derrick Rose labeled this team "grimy".

Win or Die is how the team plays, hence their continued perseverance after losing Deng. And I respect them for it.

Carmelo Anthony would score 25 ppg for the Bulls. With some luck (healthy Rose & Noah) we could compete for championships. I think Thibs would do a great job coaching Melo.

But, I'm watching this unfold like everyone else and I'm sharing my thoughts here (nothing more than my own opinion) that I don't believe Melo is coming to Chicago. We can say it's the money, the questionable health of Rose or whatever, but I don't think the guy will come because I don't think he cares about winning as much as he claims.

I can see you disagree and that's clearly your opinion too.

Noah is going to be pissed off when this is all said and done and Pau and Melo are in NY.

Don't worry. He will call them Hollywood as hell. Yeah. That'll show them.

KC don't be gullible. After his "Deng won't be traded" bit, I really doubt his "inside sources" revelations.
"I take it very seriously, knowing my opponent really wants to come at me. It's not just God's gifts. You have to work at this game. If not, you're just going to be average. You have to want it and do whatever you have to do to get it."-D.Rose
