Stern

He does like him some Lakers.

Per WT

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... -To-Dwight

Time Warner Cable is having discussions with Dwight Howard being given his own show if he re-signs with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Extra compensation, cool.

The NBA has no issue with Time Warner Cable being involving in the Lakers' pitch, but no extra compensation can be promised, according to a league source

OH snap.

"They could simply be presenting ideas about how they plan to cover Howard and the Lakers in the future," said the source.

Ya...that's probably not what they are talking about.

But they could be talking about summer movies right?

Sure, King David.

How is going after Monta Ellis even considered a good PR bluff?

I guess maybe he's seen as a high profile name for casual fans???

Don't get it.

The idea that we would give up legit assets for Monta Ellis makes me recoil in horror.

Esp as we can just try and reup Nate first for no loss.

You both realize that it is possible for the Bulls to do sign and trades.

Where are all the folks who said this summer was going to be the reckoning for contracts? That NBA players were going to wake up to the new CBA reality.

I see owners closing their eyes as if it doesn't exist.

That's about how much the Sac board thought he'd go for.

The Pelicans plan on using Evans as a deluxe sixth man similar to the way the San Antonio Spurs use Manu Ginobili, according to Sean Deveney of the Sporting News.

Nice try, everyone knows NO is trying to unload Gordon on any team that listens.

This is exactly how teams like the Pelicans and the Kings keep ending up with a ton of ping-pong balls. Although if the Pelicans do get Evans, maybe the asking price for Gordon comes down a bit?

In all honesty I like that the Bulls are being patient because some of these deals and contracts that are on the table that teams are doing make no sense. The Knicks get Bargs when they could have retained Copeland who does the same thing but for a whole lot cheaper. The Pelicans who seem to be making smart moves wanting to give Evans 48 million seems needlessly desperate. No matter what the CBA teams are going to be silly at times in free agency the question is how many and who? So far it looks like the bottom feeders are spending money that is going to probably end up still keeping them bad for the future.
Losing to get high draft picks and hoping they turn into franchise players is not some next level, genius move. That's what teams want to happen in any rebuild/tank or whatever you want to market it as.

If Evans ends up in NO, I expect Pelicans to trade Gordon for relief. EVEN IF THEY DON'T, they'll be under the luxury tax for atleast 2 years, so I see no harm in taking the gamble on Evans.

 He said Pelicans.

But seriously, that seems the likely scenario. Someone said Evans would be 6th man (or maybe Eric G. would be), but still, the 6th man usually plays a position such that he can finish games with the best players (like Jamal could play SG for the Clips).

Maybe Evans is okay at SF, but I think at Sac. that experiment failed pretty badly.

So, seems the likely scenario is as you said, move Gordon. They are in the good position of not having to move Gordon first, and not 'having' to trade him for a couple years, so they have some time and don't need to take whatever garbage is offered in the next week or so.

They are out having drinks with all the folks who said "the Bulls won't use the MMLE this summer"... :D

4/48 for Tyreke Evans? How the hell did I miss the news that the Pelicans had hired Isiah Thomas as their GM??

But seriously, like a few others have already pointed out, there's a reason some teams are always in the lottery.

If this goes down both teams have the makings of being real good. Rockets with Howard, Smith and Harden. Then the Hawks would finally get some legit size next to Horford with Asik. A Horford/Asik frontcourt is a beastly rebounding machine, and would not be fun for the Bulls to see several times a year.

So apparently both the Rockets and Lakers brought representatives from their affiliate TV stations to talk with Dwight about how much he could make from his own TV show on their station.

Just seems a bit 'circumventy' if you ask me.

What has the NBA come to  . Now, free agents are offered TV shows as an incentive to sign?

We've come a long way since the days of Jerry Krause:

Image
Amid earlier reports that he was simply making a "courtesty visit" to Chicago--after being overwhelmed by the prospect of playing for the Orlando Magic--McGrady was greeted at O'Hare Airport by team mascot Benny the Bull, the Luvabulls cheerleaders, a small band playing "Sweet Home, Chicago" and a media horde.

And--oh, yes--coach Tim Floyd, General Manager Jerry Krause and his new assistant B.J. Armstrong were on hand to greet McGrady at Gate C-20 as well
.

How would this trade work? If the Rockets sign Dwight they'll be right at the cap. Josh Smith will command around $15 mil and Omer only makes $8 mil. And I don't think Houston has junk salaries to make up the difference.
