BOS has the chance of clearing cap space. Rondo, Love and Durant. (In a few years)

Or Rondo, Love and Melo. That's a Eastern Conference contender.

Love is going to sign a max deal. Durant or Melo will presumably get very close to it. Where's the money for Rondo?

Rondo is a free agent after this upcoming season FWIW. Despite the ACL injury, he should still get considerably more than the $12.9 million he's making next season.

Most likely they would have to renounce his cap hold to afford Love. So a sign-and-trade involving one or the other would have to happen somehow. Basically, not happening.

Assuming so. I picked it up from the GB without context, but i can't imagine many other times where both these guys would be meeting given the goings on at the moment with Love, coupled with the fact that they clearly have the best offer for the Wolves.

Certainly plausible I just think not likely. I can understand Love meeting with Rondo. They are friends after all, and if a friend asked to meet up and talk about playing together no reason to say no. However, I dont see them putting together a much better team than Minny with those 2 as pillars, just as Rerisen noted. I think Love would veto the deal in the end. IMO his top choice is of course LA, but the top/most likely choice is GS.

Leaving Minnesota is one thing, and playing on a contender is another.

If he wanted to be on a contender, LA, BOS & NY will not be options for him. However, they're, so maybe there is more to it?

They won't have a better team than Minnesota in the short term, but he will be out of there, and maybe that's his top priority?

People overrate how good KG was at scoring in his prime. He was a better overall player, but better scorer, no way. 26PPG on a 59%TS is something KG never even came close to.

I don't think so. He'll be 29, still won't be able to shoot worth a damn, and point guards are all over the damn place. He may get a raise, but it won't be "considerably more" than 12.9mil, unless he turns into prime Jason Kidd or something next season.

Celtics cap space is clearing going into 2015 offseason and they have ass loads of pics. Their own, plus Brooklyns picks, for the next 4 years. and next years clippers pick( 3 actually and the rights to swap theirs with brooklyn in 2017 ) And they have some good young players. they're in great shape going forward. They're loaded. Anyone who claims other wise is mad. Phoenix is loaded with picks too. That's gold right there for teams.

Co-signed. KG had a good offensive game but he was not a legitimate #1 option on that side of the ball. He was a borderline #1, and would have had a lot more success if he'd been tasked with "only" being the #2 option on that side of the floor. At the same time KG was fifty times better than Love on the defensive side of the floor.

Short term, they might only be as good as MIN, but it's worth noting that Boston's ceiling going forward is just at another level then Minnesota's due to the market. BOS is willing to have a much higher payroll than MIN, and while BOS isn't a big time FA destination to the point they can recruit FA's even while they suck like maybe the Knicks/Lakers can, it's likely a place that could become a major threat for stud FA's if you have 2 building blocks in place already like Love and Rondo, in the same way that Harden led to Dwight going to HOU despite not being the kind of FA destination the Lakers are and the same way that the Bulls are very much in the mix for 'Melo this off-season despite not being the kind of FA destination the Knicks are.

Love is also 25 years old and has never made playoffs, so he may have a different attitude than some past superstars who were both older and had more success/felt an immediate need to win the title as opposed to perhaps an immediate need to make the playoffs and get that monkey off his back, and build a contender from there.

Wojo was just on Fox Sports Live last night and confirmed Love is interested in the Celtics, word for word, here was his quote:

"Through my sources, I reported recently that Minnesota All-Star Kevin Love had a significant interest in the Boston Celtics when he becomes a free agent next summer. That's the reason he spent this weekend with his agent and personal trainer in the city getting a great sense of the sporting landscape. Love continues to maintain to Minnesota management that he wants a trade before next season or he's going to opt out and the organization will get nothing for him".

This was news to me since it was difficult to tell from his Love/Celtics article whether Love himself viewed the Celtics as an intriguing option, or whether people around the league did just due to their number of picks/assets. So apparently Love is interested in the Celtics, which surprises me as a Celtics fan. I figured he'd pull the Chris Paul style "I won't sign an extension in Boston so don't trade for me" and Ainge would have to just either take the risk of changing his mind, or not trade for him. That doesn't appear to be the case.

I hope our front office has a good plan for Melo, because rose/love/noah would be awfully good. I was hoping he would want to team up with rose.

I keep going back and forth with Love and Melo. However something about pairing Love/Rose/Noah together just seems perfect. However I'm backing old Derrick Rose to return.

Looks like a good call there. He still has time to try for the title thing next time around.
