This, I didn't even remember Lu wearing it until people here pointed it out, it's always been Ron.

Harper preemptively borrowed it from Lu, though.

I associate #9 with Jordan (Olympics) and Lu.

Ron though has always been underrated from the dynasty days.

Least comparable players

Ball, Hayes, Haliburton, Poku

Ball being the most obvious choice. People didn’t know how to balance out his seemingly extreme strengths and weaknesses.

Ball wasn't available, so since the other guys you mention are "more unique" or nobody cared enough to come up with a comparison we should have drafted one of them

The question from you was who had no comparison and I gave that to you. Don’t get all mad that those types existed.

Drafting is about taking advantage of the inefficiencies. There is value in taking a guy that other teams have trouble “figuring out”. Brandon Clarke was the perfect example last year.

The opposite inefficiency exists for taking guys that are reminders of someone else, hoping to recreate that player. AK may not have taken that into account, but it’s a fair criticism if he did.

And Ball was available, they just didn’t want to pay the price to get him.

Luka was a euro Player and less People have seen him Play because of that. He himself models his game like LeBron and just going by the smarts you can see it when he Plays. Comparisions are just to get an Impression what type of Player you get to see. If somebody really thinks we get Kawhi some Need to give their head a wakeup call.

After watching some game tape, Patrick Williams moves like and has a similar playing style to a younger Oladipo. From the way they handle the ball, to moving off the ball, same aggressive mentality on defense where they attack the ball handler, even their mechanics when they run or jump.

A 6’8” Oladipo is a franchise player

Ok, but Oladipo had shown a ton of potential in college, so let's keep some perspective on likely outcomes.

You know PWill is going somewhere when he has that LeBron thing going on, he looks like he's 45 for someone his age.

A sign of someone way ahead of his time.

What if it's not the LeBron but the Oden thing?

Nah, Oden looked almost creaky coming in. Williams looked fluid - just physically broader. Anthony Edwards is like that. So is Zion (so much so that it's too his detriment). Corliss Williamson (my personal "floor" for PWilliams) had it. Anthony Mason. Stanley Johnson (but so much lacking in the head/heart). James Johnson, too (just a head issue with him, not a heart issue).

Freight train / tank builds.

Oladipo played three seasons in college. Freshman Dipo played 18 mpg getting 7.4 ppg and 3.7 rpg.
I never saw him play at Indiana, so maybe he showed hugely impressive potential already, but he played and produced less than Williams as a freshman, and for a really bad team to boot (12-20, 11th in Big Ten LOL). So Patrick is well ahead at this point.

For Felicio? Agree. And we should call P Dub, ‘The L’ (Elevated Train).

I was never a fan of comparing two guys who both didn't do much early in their careers and use that to extrapolate. I remember folks did that with Lauri and Dirk's first season. Great players start bad and then go on a hard to replicate trajectory of improvement. That's the part that is almost impossible to forecast.

But I'll grant you that Oladipo started mediocre and so did PWill.

The more I read and watch (including the article above), the more excited I am for Patrick Williams. Certainly the best I've felt about a Bulls' rookie since Derrick Rose. So glad they picked him.

Still can't wrap my mind around the data on him. He really didn't look great at FSU. If he ends up being the stud that he is being hyped to be, the FSU coach should be tarred and feathered.

Yeah if he really had these skills the whole time and the coach was trying to get him to play into some other role, that would be an epic level of misuse.
