That is a terrible idea. They need length, defense and rebounding. Their offensive core is more than fine. They need to shore up around it, not add another iso offensive player with a limited complete game. He makes no sense for them.

I couldn't agree more. You gave that HOU team a Taj and JB and with that right coach that core could be a favorite to come out the east. Adding Melo is likely not even going ot move the needle much at all for them.

I hope that Melo and his team can see that, and between that and the fact that HOU is going to be a crap place for Lala to live, I hope its enough to rule them out.

The Rockets really only have one shot creator and that is Harden. Their offensive numbers are fine but they really could use another good perimeter player that can score on his own and they currently don't have that. Melo spacing the floor and being able to handle the offensive load when Harden is out would be huge for the Rockets. Morey isn't all knowing but he is good at finding players that fit together and I am sure he has done a ton of analysis on how Melo fits with the team and isn't just going after him because he is a big name.

Who the hell is this guy?

As much as I want to believe, I can't. This is the same guy that posted a pic of Melo & LeBron from 3 years ago.

He did call Peyton Manning to Denver though.

I realize that due to the breakneck speed of these threads this will be forgotten in about 10 minutes, but

Please no more tweets from Incarcerated Bob, who at least with the NBA, is a fraud.

Why? They are just doing their job. I don't think it nets them a championship but just like ole trader bob in Portland they work every angle. One team wins there are different philosophy's to win ( spurs vs heat) but they make a run nothing to hate. Honestly if Rose had not got injured a second time and came back this year as we all hope he does this is a non conversation.

I don't hate the Rockets for going after Melo, but for pretty much everything else they're doing.

Seriously, what has Lin done to them?

HOU should focus on Deng. That team needs some gLUe.

for Melo and LaLa, IL has a flat rate of 5%, NY would be 8.98%. So on their overall income it's pretty significant.

That approx 4% difference could be quite a lot of money. Let's say together they make $50 million per year from basketball, LaLa and endorsements, investments, etc. This is where the state tax is huge for a power couple like them.

It could be as much as a couple of million dollars less in taxes in Chicago than in NYC.

Does this count the Millionaires Tax in NYC?

The comparison has been done and has been posted a few times.

Here's how a max would compare in a few major cities:

But we're not talking about Melo's basketball salary. We're talking about that , plus his endorsements (IIDK, I'll say another $15M per, Then Lala probably a few million), investment income maybe another $4-5M, IDK).. I'm guessing as a married couple, they make at least $50M. IDK what kind of shelters they have, or what they claim, but I think the state taxes are much more significant to a player like Anthony with a wife like Lala, who earns, than it is for most players. She has endorsements for comsetics and stuff and she is in hit movies with Kevin Hart

edit- just found something that shows Melo, just Melo, from basketball and endorsements, made $39 million in 2012. I would imagine his 2013 was more and this year will be even more.

Allllllllllll right. Almost caught you slipping.

But check my earlier post. I'm well aware Houston is a Top 5 "champagne campaign" destination. My point was, if Bulls fans want to hate on Houston on their own board, they should feel free to do so.

Why do you think that? When the Rockets had TMac/Yao he did an amazing job of getting players like Battier/Lowry/Scola/Artest to fit with them. That team was a legit title contender if Yao and Tracy don't both go down. Parsons has been a steal for the team and TJones was a great pick that fit well with the team. He also knew to get Asik who was great for the team until Howard showed up. However, his current coaching choice makes a person scratch his head.
