I'm not disputing his production, I just don't know what value that translates to. Niko was playing all-star level basketball and we still had to take Omer's contract(and return their 2nd) to get that pick.

We were also taking NOs only first round pick, I believe. With Memphis, we would be swapping picks, only causing them to move back 3 slots. They should be able to still get a quality draft pick.

Oh, I wasn't asking about Portis' value in regards to your suggested trade. I wanted to know what teams would look to trade for him as the centerpiece of the trade and gauge how likely moving up from #22 is. The trade I'm hoping for the most is Gallinari+13 for Portis+22.

I like the Memphis idea a lot but I think Orlando might be a better partner for them where they could comfortably get Porter or one of the top 4 Bigs along with Fournier or Vucevic. I'm assuming they're resigning Tyreke and pretty much capped out with or without Parsons' contract though.

I wonder what's more important to them - a higher draft pick or ridding themselves of Parsons. Maybe 7 and Omer/Felicio for 4 + Parsons...

I highly doubt they're willing to take on Felicio, Vucevic(expiring)+6 for 4+Parsons would easily beat that. I like Atlanta as a trading partner because I think prospects in our range like Young and Carter(hometown kid) are very attractive to them with their young pieces in Prince and Collins. The lowest I see Doncic slipping is to #3 and he's really the only prospect I would personally be interested in trading up for.

Gallinari's contract is $43M over next 2 seasons. The opportunity cost to me is a MAX slot in 2019-20...that's too high for 13/22 Portis swap.

Parson's deal is worse, but for #2, it might be worth it, but I'd sure try to dump Shrek's deal in there (Omer's isn't bad in 2019-2020 with only $3M guaranteed).

If Luka Doncic is still available at 4:

Chicago Receives:
#4
Chandler Parsons

Memphis Receives:
#7
Justin Holiday
Bobby Portis
Cristiano Felicio

Memphis drafts Mikal Bridges. Portis pairs well with Gasol. Holiday gives them a solid 6th man and they save some money immediately to add other talent to aging core.

Bulls get their SF who also has flexibility to play PG in case Dunn doesn't work out. Parsons deal is a lot larger but Felicio's deal is a year longer.

PG: Kris Dunn / Luka Doncic
SG: Zach LaVine / Chandler Hutchison
SF: Luka Doncic / Denzel Valentine
PF: Lauri Markkanen / Chandler Parsons
C: Robin Lopez / Lauri Markkanen

Parsons is owed $49 mill for the next 2 seasons and they have the fourth pick. Maybe that changes your mind on the Gallinari hypothetical?

I meant 4th pick, but agree Parsons is worse. For Gallinari's deal and the opportunity cost it represents, I'd want both 12 and 13 included.

I don't really see who we're signing in the next off-season so I don't see the opportunity cost as that big of a hit, and Parsons/Gallinari expire the following year. Personally I would rather have #7+#13 over #4 as I see picks four through seven being fairly equal in this draft.

Its not too bad if we stretch him next off season. 21M left in 2019, if we stretch, Then its just 7M per year for three years.

Could we help facilitate a Cousins trade? Is that possible?

Meaning: X team gives the Bulls a contract(s) plus assets and X team gets Cousins.

Washington is one team that comes to mind. They have the #15 pick and Oubre as assets.

I REALLY REALLY dont understand why some of the guys WANT to TRADE Bobby? He is 100% keeper for me..
No late 1st round pick for me and questionable quality.. Bobby is proven warrior and solid player

This is my thinking. Do we want to pay him after next season? Not too sure. Will he be happy on the bench? Doubt it.

While I think the Bulls see Bobby as a keeper, I think he will ultimately prove to be a bad value @ $10M (which I agree he'll be seeking). If he became a great defender, I'd think differently. He's really done great things in terms of his offensive evolution, but his defense has remained below average.

My personal realgm mantra is that winning in today's NBA is finding those few guys who's value is greater than the MAX contract and construct your roster to have 3 of them. The part of the equation is finding decent guys who'll play for VET MIN deals. The third is to land young guys on rookie deals and recycle them into future picks once you realize that they aren't superstars. Bobby falls in the 3rd bucket IMO. I'm not sure how much drop-off we'd see if we just resigned a guy like Vonleh on a cheap deal.

Yikes all those proposals are terrible. Kings say no to all of those. Did that guy get paid to write that? I need to reach out to bleacher report and see if theyre hiring.

Picks 1-7 are basically a crapshoot this year - all players are on about the same tier (with Ayton being maybe a little above). This is believed by numerous mock drafts. No way am I giving up #7 and Dunn...

He's a big who is a bad defensive player and a good not great offensive player. He doesn't fit well with Lauri.

Return to Chicago Bulls
