I've never seen Devin Booker play defense like he is in these playoffs. He is walking the walk right now. Seriously playing outstanding defense.

I can't remember the last 30/20/10 game I've seen in the playoffs. Not sure if I've ever seen it.

He was amazing. Unfortunately, most of the rest of the Nuggets were major disappointments and the Suns were just too good.

Yeah, centers don't matter any more...
My thought process has always been that you draft the best player and find a way to maximize their talent. C, PF, SF, SG, PG does not matter.
The mid range shot is coming back into the game and we are seeing more crazy match ups than ever.
this year set yet another new record for 3 point attempts as a percentage of overall FG attempts
More and more teams are switching to 3 pt shooting as a whole but the mid range jumper is not nearly as forbidden as it used to be.

I think we've reached a point where all the defensive attention paid to 3pt shooters has made getting wide-open mid-range jumpers much easier.
If the offenses are concentrating on getting 3's or layups, the defenses are going to put more emphasis on defending 3's and layups - which means the mid-range is the easiest place to get wide-open shots.
And let's face it, a wide-open 15-footer is basically a free throw.

Whoever signs him will be winners, in my opinion. One of the best leaders in the last twenty years. Old man game but he shows for playoff fourth quarters.

The Murray injury sucks so much. This should've been a great series.

didnt watch the game but those are the number you want from Jokic in a must win game 3. Unfortunately for Denver they are just out classed in this series.

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
Btw I think the ratings for the play-in are going to end up being better than the 2nd round.
There haven’t been close games. Also hurts to have Luka, Lebron, Lillard, Curry, Butler, Zion, Tatum, Lowry all out of action. They’d give serious efforts, even in losses. Still not sure how it’s possible for George and Kawhi to look so mediocre for their talent. They’re the most disappointing “super team” since the Howard Lakers.
It’s nice that CP3’s having his moment. Utah plays really beautiful BB. I hope they give us a good wcf, unless LAC limps back again.

The play-in teams were more evenly matched. Unfortunately, the reason that they were evenly matched is that they were all crap, which is why they were playing in.
I don't watch the playoffs much these days until the Conference Finals, because in truth there are maybe 3 or 4 teams each year that are legit contenders. I have limited interest in watching the also rans get humiliated.

Yeah, it really does suck. He was their second best player. Whereas PHO is almost completely healthy. Makes a big difference come playoff time.

The games may not be close, but the series are, except for DEN-PHO. The others are all 2-1. And the conference finals should both be good matchups. What I like is seeing all these new teams going so far. When is the last time any of these teams have been in the NBA Finals? I would hazard to guess that these 8 teams have fewer NBA finals appearances in the last 10 years than any other group of quarterfinalists for a long long time. I think this current group has 0 finals appearances in that time frame actually, so hard to beat that.

Too many injuries to the Nuggets this year. They are going to be really good next year though with Jamal Murray coming back and MPJ being healthy. They just aren’t at full strength right now.

Yeah it's basically open now. Defenses have followed the offense, which is 3 or rim and nothing in between.
Guys who can make that mid range floater or pull up are scoring in buckets, like Trae Young. Trae takes more 4'-16' shots than he takes 3 pointers or any other kind of shot.
I'll be curious to see how the NBA's review of "unnatural shooting motions" will change this, because if it allows defenders to actually play defense on 3P shooters without them jumping into you for easy FTs, defenses may change again.

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
I could see Denver easily slipping down to play-in territory next season. Murray tore his ACL on April 13 - chances are that even if he makes it back before the end of the season, he's not going to be very effective until the start of the 2022-23 season. And of course Porter's back could cause him to miss a significant number of games at any time.
They were only 5 wins above the #7 seed this season, it's not like they'll have much room for error next season.

Agreed. They really need to add some capable guards to at least give Jokic some breaks. As durable as he’s been, you’re asking him (and MPJ!) to do too much if you’re coming back with essentially the same group next season.

Murray really is their #2/1b option on offense. MPJ isn't ready to be a number 2 option yet but mostly it's because he's hurt too. I think they win this series in 7 if everyone is healthy.
