I'm buying this, sounds like bob has someone in the inner circle. He had someone in Manning's camp, was paving the way for Manning news whenever anything happened to Peyton. Never underestimate the connections of a sports handicapper, folks. It's their business to know what happens behind the scenes.

Same for me. It is not extremely hot in Houston for 6 months. Not even close.

6 months with an avg high over 80 degrees (5 over 85 degrees).

That actually says 4 over 85 because May is 85. But 85 isn't extremely hot and I stand by what I said after looking at that. July and August are the only really miserable months. You'll get a few really hot days in late June and early September but besides that it's not ridiculously hot here.

Melo just finishing up lunch with Rockets. Nothing of any real substance has come out other than Rockets fans feeling that Houston is getting Lebron, Melo, Lowry to pair with Howard, Harden, Parsons.

If he is serious about winning, it is between Houston and Chicago. Then hopefully our FO convinced him of the obvious:
- East vs. West
- Houston on offense would look impressive but each of the big three needs the ball in their hand and iso situations. Heat's big 3 looked better as LeBron was glad to give away the ball / be a passer and Bosh turned into a catch and shooter, which Howard cannot be. A simple video demo could demonstrate it, and I am hoping Thibs had this in his bag. On defense, Harden and Melo are complimentary in sucking. They would need to add a Gibson type defender to help Howard protect the rim from all the matador defense the wing duo would do
- Chicago's line-up looks like it was designed for Melo to be added to it. On offense, only Melo and Rose would need the ball and Rose would be more than happy to play off the ball some. Melo brings more 3pt shooting, ball handling, inside outside scoring and would gain in efficiency with Rose's impact, Noah's passing, and the spacing provided by McDermott and (hopefully) Mirotic. Butler, Rose, Noah, are also great in transition, which complements Melo's lack of transition game well. In defense, plain and simple, it starts with Thibs. Then Butler is taking the best wing AND Gibson and Noah provide rim protection and rebounding. Add to that the fact that the "team", as coached by Thibs, always beats the sum of its individual talents, well that looks mind blowing and a clear title contender

It seems obvious, you just have to be smart about it :-)

I use to be in the group of trading for Howard at all costs but man Howard, has zero heart and never gives is 100%. If he did, he would put up 25-12 every night. I don't know how Melo would sit in a meeting with him without seeing how fake he is when it comes to wanting to win.

Dwight feels good about the pitch! Gave interview on his way to pick up greyhound bus so he can pick up his kids from school.

Dwight must get one hell of a 'sibling' discount at daycare. Must be why he was willing to turn down that guaranteed 5th year money from LA.

It's not like that at all. July and August can get pretty bad but besides those months it's not ridiculously hot in Houston. Plenty of former and current NBA players have homes in Houston. It's no NY or LA but Houston is easily one of the better destinations of the NBA cities and that is before you throw in the lack of state income tax.

This seems like when Chicagoans are defending our winter and say "its not THAT bad, only in January and February" when they full well know our weather blows.

Photoshopped Melo into a Lin jersey holding the championship trophy. Their interns suck at photoshop.

We are about to find out what melo is made of. Melo plays up the whole born in Brooklyn thing. As a Brooklyn born New Yorker leaving New York for Chicago under these circumstances would not be an option. You guys have a good team a good coach and a style I enjoy but it's not like you have rings lately or anything. The only rings you guys have are being worn by the guy running our team. Minot hostile at all this is more about melo I completely understand why you guys would feel good and want him. I think you are our only competition. As a true New Yorker can't wrap my head around this

Houston would be a bigger threat if they were in the east, but since they are not they are just a stop on Melo's recruiting trip. I mean Chicago got pretty much a full day, Houston has to split their day with an in-state rival. It may mean something or may mean nothing, but it says the Houston is at best 3rd on his preferred destination behind Chicago and New York.

I'm hearing very little about the Houston pitch so far. Less media down there? Not getting much from some of the Houston beat writers:

At least not yet.

Was there any reason why Melo was in Chicago for almost the whole day compared to Houston's 4-5 hr stop ?

LA gets a full day as well. Everyone is sleeping on them but I am not.

What do rings have to do with anything in this context? Look at it objectively, Chicago has been on another level compared to the Knicks just the past 4 years. The Bulls, with their team and their front office, have shown a remarkable degree of consistency, stability, and have managed to maintain a certain level of performance regardless of circumstances, injuries, etc.

The Knicks have just been a complete mess. If they're not trading half the roster away one year, they're firing a coach in another or somehow still not managing to make the playoffs in a historically awful eastern conference

It would really be hard being Dwight's teammate. I imagine Kobe wanted to strangle him so many times the one season they played together.
This is not a moment, it's a movement
