Re: Around the NBA: 2020-21 Season
watching rudy gobert work has gotta be a joy for any basketball coach. always moving, always calculating, little wasted motion. setting screens, rim running, challenging perimeter shooters, swatting the ball toward the rim on offense, shifting to optimize defensive positioning...whew!

AK, get us some help! Please don't be sellers at the deadline!
We either need Ball or interior size back up.

Why didn't we sign Campazzo? I think we had enough extra MLE money.

Atlanta, New York, Boston, Toronto, Orlando all lost tonight - great night for Bulls.
If we win tomorrow, we can be tied with Boston for that 6th spot.
Let's do this.

We're a half game behind Boston and a game behind Toronto? That's messed up given the talent disparity.
Billy is overachieving with this squad even more than he did w/ OKC last season.

Watched Mavs v Celtics tonight. Neither team was impressive. Luka iced the game with a last second dagger, but for the final three minutes the Mav offense just stood around. No one moved, cut or passed. Total stagnant offense. Boston just looked all around good, but nothing special. They need more veteran leadership. Neither of these teams will do well in the playoffs.

Noah Vonleh was waived by the Nets. Could he help our front court?

He keeps coming up so why does it feel like we will eventually sign Vonleh when he is Kurt Thomas age...Dresden wrote:Noah Vonleh was waived by the Nets. Could he help our front court?

Re: Around the NBA: 2020-21 Season
I don't really watch many Pistons games (other than against us) because I'm not a masochist, but looking at their last box scores it seems that Grant came down to earth a little bit and Dennis Smith Jr might be an OK end of bench kind of guy.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

Boston was missing Smart and Teague, our Slovenian wonderkid Luka knocked down two 3pt shots in decisive moments, clutch again, but before that he wasnt that sharp, Brunson was saving them until last minutes.

I'll give you Smart, he's been pretty good, but Teague has been awful this year.
Boston has a young big 2 that is damn good, but that Kemba deal isn't aging well and they don't have cap room to use until he expires. Their best move would probably be using their draft capital to try o get another star, but they only have their own picks, so that would probably require a full Harden/Holiday package. And even then we don't really know which star would be available.
Don't get me wrong, they're not in a bad situation per se (better than ours, for example), but that last jump to top-notch contender (always the hardest one) got murky after Hayward leaving and Kemba declining.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

Sign him up and waive Kornet.

GarPax should've gotten the slap on the wrist too with their last two coaching hires.

is it diversity hires or African American hires? i never hear talk about getting more Asian and Hispanic (etc..) representation in the league.
I feel some of the people bringing this issue up are only looking at it from one angle, but its important to discuss nevertheless since i think many of these hires stem from a natural bias we all have.

I think it's more about the process itself of conducting a thorough search (lack thereof) moreso than the race of the coaches getting hired. AK actually conducted a proper coaching search from a pool of diverse candidates before ending up with Donovan. Minnesota didn't really give anyone else a chance much like GarPax when they chose Fred and Boylen.

Probably from lack of open rosters spots, thanks GarPax

Re: Around the NBA: 2020-21 Season
Ironic that Minny is getting called out for a botched coaching hire process, when really this is a correction of nepotism 2 years ago.
Some Minny fans say Finch should have been hired when he originally interviewed 2 years ago, and Saunders was only hired due to being Flip's son. And this is basically reversing that wrongful hiring.

meh. That's on AK. He didn't have to keep some of these end of the bench bums.

Uncle Jerry probably doesn't want to pay to cut someone who is not on the team anymore without fans in the stands.
