How could Avery Johnson not be on your list? At this point, he's tops on mine.

because he is a fanatically religious person who pushes his religion onto everyone around him.

thibideau is likely a good defensive coach, or specialist. but so was rod marinelli, and that worked out well for him as a head coach. thibideau is still inexperienced as a head coach.

Phil isn't a spiritual fanatic?

"Good PR about themselves" is one thing, kicking a guy on his way out sends a nice message to any others interested in the job about what they can expect when their time will be over.

Let me guess - "it won't have any impact," right?

Who do you think leaked the stories that Byron Scott and Kevin McHale are lazy? I'd be willing to wager one started somewhere in the vicinity of New Orleans and the other in the land of a thousand lakes.

I would say this is highly exaggerated at most

Really? Show me the quotes that suggest otherwise? How about the articles talking about how Noah spits in the face of VDN's administration and talks back to him like a dog?

Maybe you can show us Rose stating that VDN was an okay coach. Or maybe where he said VDN is useless and he really doesn't coach him.

You think it's highly exxagerated, but you have no proof otherwise.

Come on, both of us know neither player would do that if they wanted to. You and I both know they're classy and hard-working and proud and wouldn't say anything other than something supportive. But they also know that Vinny doesn't draw up plays, they also know they're always outmatched at the coaching position, and they also know their goals are beyond wherever Vinny can take them, so I don't think Rose and Noah are too bummed right now, and if they are, they'll get it over it quickly after they play for a coach that knows what he's doing.

They would say, "No Comment" or that they don't want to discuss front office issues. Vinny has done a great deal to their individual success. He let them play and do their thing. Why wouldn't they love him?

Why? Its going to be as cordial as all hell. They'll thank each other for the opportunity and the hard work. Say it just wasn't the right fit. That it was a great experience and that they both learned from it.

Its in both the Bulls and Vinny's self interest to make this as friendly and amicable a parting as possible. The Bulls FO needs to quiet the media storm and Vinny needs to make sure he doesn't mess up a chance at future employment.

As big a faux pas as Pax confrontation might be - no GM wants a coach who will blatantly disregard the medical staff's orders on players minutes. Vinny needs to make sure that issue is settled/quieted as much as if not more than Pax does.

So wait? VDN will attend his own firing press conference? Classic. And clueless. Just leave the building and be done with it. What is he going to say?

The bottom line for me; you get what you pay for. Pax hired a coach with no experience at any level. The guy tried to win games. Got the team to the playoffs two years running. And by no means am I defending VDN. He had to go. He was a terrible coach. But there was one thing he always had going for him...

His hair was perfect.

Like Magilla said. It's good for both parties. VDN's already been fired. Showing a strong front is good for Bulls FO, and parting cordially is good for future jobs for VDN.

How thankful he is that the Bulls gave him the opportunity. How much he enjoyed his time with the Bulls, coaching Rose, Noah, etc... And how it just wasn't the right fit, and that he wishes the Bulls the best of luck.

I should know, I wrote his speech.

So VDN will sit there, biting his tongue, like a good little schoolboy? Ridiculous. He should just issue a parting statement, all glowingly praising the bulls yada yada and slink off into the night. I've never in my life heard of a fired coach actually attend the press conference. But hey, for those who like to read between the lines, and study body language etc., this should be highly entertaining.

Will it be on NBA TV?

go to the Bulls homepage.

http://www.nba.com/bulls/bullstv/live.html

funny thing here is a lot of posters who wanted the team to tank by midseason are actually complaining about his performance at the latter half of the season and joined in the call for his head. lolerz.
